I don't know if anybody's noticed, but Tesco seem to have broken the embargo, and released the Lord Of The Rings : The Two Towers DVD a day early. Of course, there's nothing new about the film, but the second disc full of extras is a goldmine!

Personally, I wasn't too keen to watch the preview of the Return of the King, simply because I didn't want to spoil it in any way. However, having seen it, I'm very glad I got talked into it. Return of the King looks like it is going to be absolutely incredible! I advise EVERYONE to watch the trailer, even if you are hesitant about watching spoilers.

I think I'll go into hibernation until December 17th! (Or maybe November 18th, when the Two Towers special edition DVD comes out).

Read today that FOTR and TTT are both being re-released in the cinema worldwide a few weeks before ROTK is released in December. The new cinema editions will include extra scenes....

Cha-ching for Peter Jackson and co.

    I don't think you're right.
The new cinema editions are just going to be the extended DVD editions (according to variety), and are being used solely as a promotional gimmick for Return of the King, since it's going to cost more money to show these editions than they're going to make back.

I never watch adds for films that im excited about , the ammount they show in the adds is imo rediculous, I prefer when they shoot extra footage for an add so it doesnt actually ruin anything in the movie for you, like the HULK add where hes in the bathroom looking in the mirror,or the comedian add

I mean lets say you see a character in an add, then in the film your supposed to think that character is dead , but you have seen him in the add in a scene which you aint seen in the movie yet....you know ?

I'm not disagreeing with what you're saying. It's just the same as films whose best laughs appear in the trailer, leaving you with 85 minutes of 'filler' (Bruce Almighty, take a bow).

But the fact is that these are films of books that have been around for fifty years. Remember when Titanic came out, and people were joking about 'ruining' the ending by saying "the boat sinks"? Pretty much the same deal here - almost everyone knows (essentially) what's going to happen in these films, so the issue of 'spoilers' is a little less clean-cut than you're making it out.

But mr_angry4 is right - the preview is done in such a way that nothing is given away. We just see a huge battle (even the posters give this away), with a few behind-the-scenes shots.

How so? In fairness they announced from the beginning there would be two DVDs. One normal cinematic release in August and one in November with the extras for the fans. Most films never give you that courtesy - it's years later when they suddenly go, "Ohhh I found some footage! Ohh I might get more money!" This way you're making an informed decision when you buy the normal release.

As to the cinema. It's a very limited showing of the two. Which means we mighn't get it here. And again people will know what they're in for - it'll show the Extended DVD, not anything new.

I call all this treating fans with respect and not doing a Lucas on it and changing things later on and re-releasing it with 2 minutes added, and not forty....

It's fair enough to be honest. I'm waiting for the extended DVD. I know when it's coming out and I pretty much know what's going to be on it.

Not like when I bought A Fish Called Wanda 9for example, there are lots of other examples) and I'm tempted to get it again just for the Cleese Schweppes advert that was on the rental video

Or worse, doing a Spielberg and adding bits to Close Encounters twice (oh, I forgot, Lucas did that to SW as well).

Yea I know - well Not everyone has read the books , even Though I have read them I still dont want to know how things look , I like everything to be a surprise...Maybe thats just me...I enjoy films alot more if I know nothing about them...

for instance if theres a classic film from the 80's that I havnt seen , If I watch it without the trailers , the making of , interviews , posters etc I enjoy it ALOT more...

I think its the third best selling book in the world? So I’d say the majority of people will know
that it all turns out to be a dream, and on the very last page Frodo wakes up from his extraordinary dream to share a romantic shower with Sam, much like Dallas.
