SoBig, the latest computer virus, is continuing to cause havoc around Ireland, and the world. AOL, which has one of its main UK centres in Waterford, says 60% - or three out of every five - of the messages it is processing at the moment are infected. Syphos, the major European anti-virus and computer security organisation, says it has intercepted 600,000 emails containing the virus in the past 24 hours. If you open the attachment, it automatically sends itself to every address stored in your computer.

Makes you wonder why they process them if they know they are infected. I mean its only more work for them.

Check this out. Also, apparently a lot of Americans are on holiday atm, so they'll all be switching on their home and work computers on Monday...

Thats due to the way the SOBIG.F virus runs. It uses a "spoofing" system to make the email From field. The "Spoofing" is where it searches through files in your PC looking for any email address. If then uses the email address it finds to send itself either To that address or using that email address in the From field. So many people [including me] have got the undelivered message even though we never sent the email.

This is probably causing havock for spammers :)

For more info on it, see its writeup on the Symantec site here.

Yes. the virus itself will stop sperading itself across the internet on the 10th September 2003. Yet it itself will still remain on infected computers, so please keep your computer virus Free :)

So far they have release on directly after the last one, almost seemes like the trying different approaches..
