Mac Software For PC?

    does anyone know if mac are planning to eventually make all their sofware available for PC?

    i know they have with some, but the programme im particulary interested in is Final Cut Pro.

    It is highly unlikely for two main reasons :
    firstly the code is written for those applications given a consistent set of hardware and device driver combinations that are controlled by Apple
    secondly (and more importantly) without those key applications Apple would lose hardware sales.

    imo, FCP remains the single greatest reason to buy a mac. Ever since apple let Avid port to pc they have been losing ground to the wintel platform in the broadcast end of things but FCP means that the lower end is guarenteed apple for the next while.

    Avid are releasing a free package this autumn though, it will be interesting to see how it compares to FCP.

    fantastic stuff. although i think ill just buy a mac.
    will avid be compatable with pc? is there any news if lightworks is going to release a similar package?

    AFAIK the free avid package will be pc only (Avid DVxpress is WinXP only)

    I doubt lightworks will release anything free since they went out of business 5 years ago (i think the name was bought by someone else but they dont bring out new products anymore).
