Got my modem today and everythings up and runniong now except i cant get internet connection sharing to work properly. Im using the built in XP one. The other machine sees the connection and registers thats its connected and everything but when i try to load a webpage its extremely slow loading and then just stops.

Ive looked at all the settings and they seem fine. Anyone got any suggestions?

Do pings work on the shared connection?

I had a problem a few weeks ago where webpages wouldn't open on my shared connection. Pings and Kazaa were okay. In the end I got a router which fixed it.

    download sygate home network manager
    its great
you literally have NO setting up to do
and it works like a dream!
i couldn't get windows ME ICS to work, sygate was working within 15 seconds, literally!

i ran a Mac -> Pc network (both accessesd internet) and a Pc -> pc and a Mac, running virtual pc -> pc. All networked and internet accessible, i know a lot.

Firstly install sygate home network in server mode on the main internet computer and restart. Then go to the TCP/IP settings on your main comp and make sure it's still set to the settings you need to access your ISP.

Next open the tcp/ip settings for the network card on second computer, make up an IP address (like 123.45.23.12) and make sure you type in the same subnet mask as on the main computer. Then type in the first computers IP as the gateway (this is probably the step you didn;t do). Next restart both computers.

It may not be called Gateway, it depends, but feel free to put main computers IP anywhere in settings if your not certain.
