    Wow, stumbled across this

    http://c64audio.valuehost.co.uk/live/bitl4/

People like Martin Galway and Rub Hubbard are gonna be playing their own C64 tunes, wow, the nostalgia. Love to go to this.

*shudder!* C64 music made the tapes loading seem longer to endure, due to limited range of sounds of the SID the music really stank.

You have to be joking:eek: The C64 was the first computer with a fully-functional music synthesizer built into it thanks to the SID chip, 3 sound channels!:) Thats why it had the best music around at the time. TBH You must have been listening to the wrong games Spacedog

Some of the best game music I've ever heard has been on the C64. Rob Hubbard, Martin Galway, Maniacs of Noise, Steve Rowland, Martin Walker, Tim Follins...... ah the good old days!

    Time for a C64 session tonight, I think. :)

Steve Rolands version of the tiny toons themesong on the title screen of Mayhem sounded terrible, the gameboy had a a superior soundchip to the SID, the only people who played gameboy music live were 2 Unlimited doing the tetris song, where are they now? dead I hope!

Did you quote that from the back of the original C64 box or the first page of the instruction manual, I recall a simular rant about the SID in some sort of commodore documentation, The sound on My C64 doesn't work anymore, I won't miss it!

Its not a rant, its FACT:rolleyes: Anyone with an interest in c64 hardware could tell you that....and considering the Gameboy was released 6 years later is it any wonder sound chip technology improved? Anyway don't think I'll fan the flames. You don't like music from the C64 Spacedog your loss:)

Here here Logie. The best theme tunes I've ever heard were from the C64. I still listen to them every now and then. I mean, Last Ninja ffs, brilliant music and still stands the test of time today. If you're an avid listener of sid tunes, you should check out http://remix.kwed.org/ some great stuff there, all the better now I'm on broadband ;)

Don't get me wrong, I'd be the last one to hear a bad word about the ol' C64, like I say, I still use ming from time to time. just saying that the theme song from creatures 2 (as good as it was for the time) is never going to be the next beatles. you'll never be moved to tears by the beauty of a SID tune. Sorry if I come accross as a flamer, not my intention at all.
