Tá an áit seo marbh! Cá bhfuil na Gaeilgeoirí go léir? Ar saoire nó fuadaithe ag daoine beaga glasa ón spás?:)

Pé scéal é, táim á scríobh seo chun comhrá as Gaeilge a thosú anseo arís. Abair hallo!

    Hallo. A/G/L? (A/S/L?) :D

Tá ceart agat, tá an áit seo marbh. Chan bhfuil fhios agam faoi na daoine eile, ach an leisce is í an fadhb atá agam. Tá sé i bhfád níos mó eascúil caint as bearlá. Ach tá orm cleachtúil.

An bhfuil focal grinn as Gaeilge ag duine ar bith? Cha chuala mé ceann ar bith riamh as Gaeilge, cé gur chuala mé go léir as Francais.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 10,730 ✭✭✭✭simu

Nílim ag lorg buachaill-chara faoi láthair:)

    Scéal grinn??

Cén fáth gur chuaigh an sicín trasna an bhóthair?

Chun dul go dtí an dtaobh eile!

(Gabh mo leithscéal, bíonn mo chuid jokes go dona i gcónaí!)

Lukin Back, tá snáth(thread?) anseo mar gheall ar slang, conas daoine a mhaslú etc as Gaeilge, más é sin a bhí i gceist agat:

thread ar an forum (nil foclóir Gaeilge/Béarla agam faoi latháir) CTYI faoin Ghaeilge(tá brón orm faoi mo chuid gramadach, tá sé go huafásach), go háirithe sa scoil. Bhi mé chun ceann a tosnú sa forum seo, ach ceapaim nach mbéadh a lán daoine ann chun é a fheicéail, tá sé fior go bhfuil an Ghaeilge ag fáil bás :(

Ná bí i do dhuarcán (pessimist)! Cé go mbíonn daoine, agus an cuid is mó doibh, daoine san aois a bhfuil tú, gur an deireadh atá ag teacht. Tá orainn rud a dheanamh, agus beith níos dóchasaí - má cheapann muid go bhfuil an Ghaeilge ag fáil bás, gheobhaidh sí..

    dar liomsa, ar aon nós.

Edit: mar tá mé marbh tuirseach, agus níl fhios agam cad é mar atá me abaltá scríobh! Bhuel, sin mo leithscéal ;)

Tá an ceart agat. Tá go leor daoine fós ann a labhrann Gaeilge go háirithe i gcomparáid le teangacha neamhfhorleathana(minority languages) i dtíortha eile ar domhan.

Tá sé deacair dom smaoineamh ar jokes as Gaeilge anois. De ghnáth, nuair a bhím ag caint le daoine as Gaeilge, deirimid rudaí greannmhara ach ní bhíonn siad greannmhar las amuigh den gcomhthéacs(context).

Is dóigh liom féin go bhfuil an leathnach "Ar son na cúise" a bhíonn sa nuachtán Foinse gach seachtain an-ghreannmhar áfach. Bíonn sé ag magadh faoi eagraíochtaí Gaeilge, polaiteoirí agus scéalta eile sa nuacht.:)

Bhuel, an bhfuil gach duine fós ar saoire? Ró-leisciúil, b'fheidir? Ró-chútháil (shy)?

B'fheidir go bhfuil ábhar (topic) de dhíth orainn (needed)? Rud cosúil le "cad a rinne tú ar do laetheanta saoire?" :D

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 10,730 ✭✭✭✭simu

    I'm so happy for you

Wow! Seo nath cainnte Gaeilge nár chuala mé cheanna!:)

Tagann daoine anseo go minic ag lorg eolais ar ranganna Gaeilge agus a leithéid agus cheapas go mbeadh sé deas dá bhféadfaidís cúpla abairt a chur anseo agus a rá linn conas atá ag eirí leo!

(Rough translation: for ppl who come here asking about Irish classes, say hi in Irish, tell us how you're getting on!)

Chun do cheist a fhreagairt - cad a rinne mé ar mo laethannta saoire? Faic!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 15,552 ✭✭✭✭GuanYin

    Gach Ábhar:

Gaeilge, Bearla, Mata, Francais, Chemic, Fisic, Bitheolaíocht agus Mata Feidhmeach. Rinne me Cursa Riomheolaíocht fresin.

Bhí sé an deachair ar fad, aistriú chun rudaí a foghlaim i mbearla san ollscoil. Fós deanaim mo chuid mata i mo intinn as gaeilge.

Agus ni raibh chlú agam cad a bhí i gceist le focal cosúil le "perpendicular" i mata sa rang cead bhlian in ollscoil mar ni raibh an focal bearla chuladhtha agam thanna fein.

(ta fios agam go bhfiul an litriu anseo uafasach, ach táim in ann gaeilge a labhairt go maith, rinne me dearmad ar mo chuid litriu agus gramadach i bhfad o shin :( )

In Ainm Dé, ná bí ag caint! Tá daoine eile anseo (bhuel, b'fheidir mise amhain  ) le litriú/gramadach dona! Is cuma liom faoi, agus ceapaim gur cuma le na daoine eile :D

Scríobh, agus dean dearmad ar an grammar-police - níl siad anseo!

Sin é go hiontach bheidh abaltá an ardteist a dheanamh go léir tríd mheáin na Gaeilge. Cad é an chontae / baile in a rinne tu d'ardteist?

    Càrta íontach, a Lukin!

Ach cad tá uait simu, 'gus tusa a cur tús leis an thread seo? An bhfuil aon rud eile libh le rá ná nach é an ciúnas an foram seo?

Tà uait féachaint air na ríallana. Dá cheapann tú gur è seo an foram leat, beidh áthas orm tusa a féáchaint ag póstail anseo. Is í seo foram an ciúnas ach níl í seo rud speiceanna ì sin. Níl sí co súil le After Hours, mar shampla.

Coinnigh i'd cheann, ... scríobh mé an phósta seo tar éis go léir deochanna :)

    ...

    Feck it.

Nice card, Lukin... but what's the story simu, starting this thread? Have you guys got anything productive to say other than the fact that this is a fairly quiet forum?

This will naturally be a quiet forum compared to , say, After Hours. It's a specialised subject, if you will, so that's natural.

Read the charter and decide if you have a use for this forum. If you do, then I'll be happy to see you post here.

Keep in mind that I wrote this after a few pints, - so excuse my very bad Irish ... please :)

    ...

[edit]: by the way... no ... the grammar police are NOT here. If they show up, I, as forum moderator... will shoot them.

    dead.

    Go raibh maith agat.

Ní feidir liom caint ar son Simu, ach ceapaim gur iarracht ar beagán comhrá a dheanamh as Gaeilge. Chun cleachtadh nó mar is maith leis caint as Gaeilge..

    Rud mar an céad riail?
    1. This board is the place to discuss the Irish language and/or to brush up on it / practise conversing in it

Níos mó rud chun comhrá a bhrostú anseo.

    --

    Thanks.

I can't speak on Simu's behalf, but I just think it was an attempt at some conversation in Irish. For practice, or just cause he likes speaking in Irish..

Something like the first part of the charter?
    1. This board is the place to discuss the Irish language and/or to brush up on it / practise conversing in it

Just an attempt to stimulate some dialogue.

Oh, one thing I'd like to ask Bard, I didn't quite discern from the charter. Would this forum just be for matters relating to the Irish language, discussions about it etc. or is general conversation as Gaeilge also part of it? I mean like say a more general topic like some of the more serious stuff from After Hours (or lighter stuff from Humanities), but as Gaeilge. Of course I know that anything like "Poll: Cad é an dath ar do chuid gruaige?" or "Tiocfaidh ar lá! Ach cá huair?" would/should be binned immediately, but it might be nice to have a more general conversation through Irish. Again, I emphasise general, in the sense of Irish in natural use :)

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,309 ✭✭✭✭Bard

Technically, yes.. it's for discussions relating to the Irish/Gaeilge language.

At the same time, ... it's not exactly a terribly busy forum, so I'm not exactly a terribly strict moderator. Feel fairly free to discuss general issues here through Irish/Gaeilge... although, as mentioned in the charter, make sure that they are understandable (providing translations where necessary/possible) to all and sundry, while keeping in mind that I will, as you suggested, snip the ridiculous topics such as "Cén dath atá ar do cuid gruaige?", etc.

    Carry on... Lean ar aighaidh!

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 10,730 ✭✭✭✭simu

Sea, theastaigh uaim comhrá a thosú as Gaeilge. B'fhéidir go dtagann daoine anseo ach nuair a fheiceann siad ná fuil aon rud nua curtha ann le tamall, b'fhéidir go bhfágann siad gan aon teachtaireacht a fhágaint. Bheadh sé deas dá mbeadh seans acu cúpla focal a rá as Gaeilge fiú amháin muna bhfuil aon cheist mhór acu le cur!

Yup, wanted to start a conversation in Irish especially for ppl who perhaps come here to take a look and see that there has been no activity for ages! It would be nice to have a comhrá thread to encourage them to say something in Irish even if they don't have some really important question to ask.

B'fhéidir gur chóir rud cosúil le "word of the day" mar atá i bhfóram an Bhéarla a bheith anseo!

Maybe there should be something like "word of the day" in the English forum here!

Ba bhreá liom féin comhrá beo a bheith agam le haon duine sa seomra cainte beo ag craiceáilte.com dá mbeadh am eagraithe againn, ach bím ag freastal ar an gcoláiste i Má Nuad an chuid is mó den am, fiú ag an deireadh seachtaine agus tá firewall ion-tógtha sna ríomhairí sa choláiste agus cuireann siad sin bac ort dul isteach i seomra cainte beo. :(

Tá sé fíor nach labhrann mórán daoine Gaeilge a thuile, ach ní ghlaofainn teanga marbh uirthi! Bhí mé féin á labhairt inniu le roinnt cairde.

Bhí mé i gcaifé Trí-D ach bhí díomá orm. Labhair na freastalaí as Gaeilge ach bhí Béarla le cloisteail uaidh gach duine eile. Ní dóigh liom go rachfainn arís ann. Tá caifé eile ar Shráid Chill Dara ach ní raibh mé ann go fóill. An raibh éinne eile ann?

Ceapaim gur snáith maith é seo. Tugann sé deis do dhaoine a gcuid Gaeilge scríofa a chlachtadh. Maith thú Simu.

Ar aon nós, an bhfuil aon scéalta ag éinne?

Bhí mé i Club an Conradh an seachtáin seo agus ní raibh focal Bearla ar bith ann.

Tá Trí-D ceart go leor, ach ní doigh liom go bhfuil sé go maith mar tá tú ag iarradh buaileadh le daoine chun Gaeilge a labhairt.

Ní raibh me fós san ait i sraid Cill Dara
