Trying to connect Netgear DG824M to UTV ClickSilver

I've been trying to setup my new Netgear wireless modem gateway to UTV clicksilver without success. Can anyone help with how it should be setup.

The ADSL light is fine but when I try to connect to UTV, it just fails.

At one stage it told me that I had a fixed IP address after I ran the setup wizard but I don't.

    Any help or tips appreciated.

    Max

PS. I'm back using the USB modem at the moment.

    Hi Max,

The auto setup seems to be incorrect on this router. I think it disconnects and reconnects about 10 times, and if it gets the same IP address every time, it assumes that you have a fixed IP connection.

UTV is not a fixed IP service (AFAIK), but I seem to always get the same IP address.

Anyway, here I the settings I use.

First of all, say no to the auto setup.

    BASIC SETTINGS
    Require Login: Yes
    Encapsulation: PPPoE
Login and password: given by UTV
    Service Name: (blank)
DNS Address: Get Automatically from ISP

    ADSL SETTINGS
    Multiplexing Method: LLC-Based
    VPI: 8
    VCI: 35

That should get you connected, I don't think I had to do any configuring in the Wireless Settings.

You won't need to "connect to UTV" anymore, either, so you can probably delete the dialup connection that the blue modem created.

UTV Clicksilver has been fuxored on and off for a few days now.
Carl is putting in a new router to try fix it.
Read the utv support news feed, you can get support directly from the techs.

As for the IP, UTV have a 48hour rotation of IP's. You will have the same IP for a maximum of 48 hours.

    Thanks guys.

I'm up and running now. I changed the adsl settings as you suggested and Hey Presto.

I have noticed that I don't now have to connect to UTV.
Question! How do I dis-connect from UTV if I DID want to?

    Thanks again.

Max, to disconnect, go to the 192.168.0.1 control panel, choose Gateway Status -> Show WAN Status -> Disconnect. This will disconnect everyone on the router from the internet.

tribble, does this mean that you are disconnected after 48 hours?
