I'm looking for the name of a programme that I used to watch as a child, 80's, it was all about the human body and how it worked. All the cells etc were kinda like people and they'd run around doing jobs and things. I remember being hooked on it.

Any info would be much appreciated as it's annoying me that I can't remember it!

    My mam can't remember it.

Dunno if anyone else remembers it.

Ahh, I think that used to be called 'Once upon a time....LIFE"

French made (from the same guys as "Once apon a time... life" from the same guys as "Ulysses 31" (they still show it over here).

They also did "Il était une fois... l'espace". Same thing but in space.

Wasn't there a funny robot and some old dude with a long white beard?

Yes I think the old guy with the beard was the narrator or something!

    It was indeed French made...

    Thanks for the responses!

Madness. I recall even as a child I thought the whole sense of scale was buggered to the high hells. Photons the size of bees, bacteria and viruses the same size as blood cells, the list goes on... Good for a laugh, though.

I loved that show! All the bad guys had red, oddly shaped noses!

The makers of it also made a series about great figures from science or history(not sure which).

I remeber being really inspired by the one where Marie Curie beat all the men in her class at calculus!

I remember the programme, but cant name it.

Are you sure about that name? 'Once upon a time....LIFE"

I remember it used to good (sorta).

I think it would be a little out of date now, and some of the "facts" would have been proved to be incorrect.

    Reminds me of the simpsons:

"By 1970, man will have established many colonys on the moon, Ideal for Holidays and Residential use"

" THE MOON BELONGS TO AMERICA "

As far as I remember that's what it was called. It was certainly called "Il était une fois... la vie" in French. Quite a good and entertaining show. It had pretty much the same cast of characters as this series (which I remember watching) but obviously transplanted from space to inside the human body. They later did a series called Once Upon A Time... America, again with the same cast of characters. These are the three I remember. (IMDB lists "Il était une fois l'homme"as a movie connection for the space series but I don't remember that one at all)

For some reason I remember all these series having theme music similar to Jimmy Somerville's Comment A Dire Adieu. None of them did. That one was some animated import featuring a dolphin, the name of which escapes me.

(IMDB also lists "Il était une fois l'homme", "Il était une fois... les explorateurs" and "Il était une fois... les découvreurs". No idea if these were ever dubbed into English)

Ah, les découvreurs (the discoverers) must have been the series I remember seeing Marie Curie in. Must have been translated into English as well as I did not speak French at that time.

It was definatly 'Once upon a time....LIFE'

They released a book series aswell,
    'How your body works'
Where you got to make your own miniature figure thing, complete with brains and guts and stuff.

    I remember it well,

there was a historical one as well which wase possibly the other two mixed together and re-edited slightly.

Yeah, I remember that.... it was on tv when i was like, 5....
Is that the one where there were green blood cels, or something, and they used to watch all the blood cells and catch the green ones? that was part of it, I'm almost sure.... but that was nearly 11 years ago, s I'm not certain.

Ha, I used to watch that all the time as a kid. I've seen the Space one as well, and I think some of the America one...

I remember that program, only vaguely, the only episode I remember is the one where the white blood cells have to prevent germs getting through a cut. Perhaps I'm constructing memories though, I don't know. There's a new program on now, my sister likes it, called Ozzy and Drix, it's also about the body, all of the white blood cells are detectives and police officers.
