Shees - I think some of the earlier bands are going to be fairly good.

Im more curious about parking (I ride a bike) and how safe it would be. Where do we park - or is it FFA outside? Ive taken the day off so can get there early. Think there will be massive queues etc?

Gates open at 3. I'd imagine The Darkness are on stage at 4 for about an hour. Linkin Park are probably on from 6 til 7-7.30 and Metallica from about 8.30 til 11 or 11.30. That's just guessing though.

the gig has a 10:30 watershed!!
The Darkness are only getting half an hour and linkin park 1 hour while metallica are getting just over 2 hours

So, first band on at 5 eh? Doors open at 3, thats a long bloody wait. No doubt there'll be ample opportunity to spend well over the odds on sh*te fast food and warm beer.

Linkin Park 1.5 hours??? Have they got enough material?

    Best gig of the year.

There is only one hard rock act that could come evn close to that, and thats AC/DC.

Only two of the sh*te they released this year, which was nice. Three Masters Of Puppets tunes in the first four?!?

although they did have a fixed setlist, apparently far more of em were going to have pyrotechnics...

was anyone else in the pit?

I was in the pit. ****ing brilliant. Can anyone remember the whole setlist they played?

Someone posted the setlist in the Rock/Metal forums, seemed fairly accurate.
    I thought it was brilliant.

Obviously weren't around for the 18 minute versions they use to do with the Black album tour, eh?

Those piddly little "solos" on Wednesday don't even come close!!!

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,592 ✭✭✭Ancient1

The good thing is that they didnt play any 18 mins medleys, never mind the improvs! imagine all your fave justice pieces compressed into 4.5 mins !:D
one word (3, actually): legends, legends, legends.

was it my imagination or was the metallica gig not as loud as their past shows?probably so those d4 arseholes could go to bed.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,213 ✭✭✭✭therecklessone

Those D4 arseholes, as you so kindly put it, are entitled to a little consideration you know. They could so easily have raise a few objections to the concert, and caused all sorts of trouble.

I suspect the difference you noticed was as a result of the different acoustics of an outdoor vs. an indoor show. Your first time seeing metallica outdoors, was it?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 5,578 ✭✭✭Slutmonkey57b

I'd be interestd to see how many of the crowd were old metallica fans rather than kids... personally I wouldn't go to see them or buy their sh.it on principle nowadays.

God their website is a big self-flagellating bumfu.ck.

Hey recklessone, maybe it's because this was your first time being at a gig at all? the amp's were just turned down way too low,I saw them at "the fields of rock" festival months ago!now that was a real tallica show, and who give's a flyin **** about the surrounding area they're just pretencious f**kers anyway! who cares?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,213 ✭✭✭✭therecklessone

Yeah right, I was at my first ever gig...

I was only asking for information's sake, thought that might have been the reason is all.

If you want to be an asshole about it, no skin off my nose. Ironically, your username suits your attitude...;)

Ok man I did kind of jump down your throat, but I merely stated that just because some objectionist residents (evidentally before the gig) denied us hearing metallica full force, thats all I meant!
for just one night 35,000 fans could'nt hear their favourite band loud enough it just pisses me off they should've been much louder!
