what i mean is they say to install SME costs 169 euros, is that all i have to pay?

because eircom said something like 169 about a 1.5 years ago, and when i ordered it, they started.... you need this, you need that, line....
so i went you to 600 euros, i don't want this to happen again, so you guys who installed Netsource did you only pay 169(or what ever package you were installing) euros?

Nope, the connection fee and that is it. You can buy your own equipment.

    netsource:
99 eurobucks for self install or 199 for engineer install.
66 eurobucks for the first month. (they include this in the first statement they send you)

    hardware:
one router or usb modem (prices vary)
network cards (depending on how many pcs you are going to connect, nic card for 10 eurobucks and some chump change for the patch cables)

thats all really, its very simple if you plan ahead and if you previously dont have an isdn line in your home.

If your a small/medium sized company or a sole trader you don't need to get a domain name from them and 54.45 euro /month is all you have to pay and that includes VAT.

Are you sure about the Sole Trader bit?

I'm a sole trader, but I'm paying for a domain (I haven't actually registered any domain with them). What must you do to get the domain cost off, quote them your VAT number or something?

    Have you actually done this?

BTW Netsource have told me that they will be billing me quartely, is this a new thing?

You don't need a VAT number. Just say its for work.

netsource are charging €135 quarterly, ex vat

but then you also have to get a domain name for €30 per quarter ex. vat (I pay less than $10 per year for a domain!!!!).

    so,

    €135 pm
    + 30 pm
    ____
    165 pm ex. vat quarterly
660 pm annually (if paying quarterly)

    inc. vat @21% = 796.60 overall in a year

er, its a bit expensive isn't it, even for an 'uncapped' service.

Its a bit far from what I expected.

Does anybody know if you can get the domain name pointed elsewhere, like at your own nameservers? Will they charge through the teeth if you ask for this?

I asked them about this today and they said plainly that this was not true. You pay €10 per month ex vat for the domain.

Netsource might waive the domain on the €169/month package if you're lucky. Try saying that you already have a domain. I don't think you'd have much luck on waiving the domain on the cheaper packages - unless they are an add-on to your existing (more expensive) package. They seem to do this on a case-by-case basis, anyway, depending on how much business you are giving them.

It has nothing to do with whether you are using the account for 'work' or not - just that you might get it waived if your company is paying for the expensive account in the office and is getting a number of Soho accounts for employee home use.

Before signing up with Netsource you may want to pay close attention to whats going on with them - http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?s=&threadid=109120
This is relevant if you like to game online and with the latest development, shock horror, if you want to download loads of, ahem, software with no cap. I'm with Netsource but am considering my options. i.e. cancelling.

Have been reading through all the posts relating to Netsource & the other broadband isps ... am in the market myself and am really hoping to find reasonably priced uncapped dsl. People seem to be disagreeing over the actual total cost for the cheapest nestource package. Is it 45 + vat or 55 + vat ? Why would they force you to pay for a domain ?

I study in Dublin but live in the states. Have had dsl for about 5 years now. Pay about 40 euro a month for uncapped 768/128 ! If someone could clarify the netsource situation, I'd greatly appreciate it.

If you go for the 512/128 RADSL package then you have to buy a domain from them. So it's €45 for the connection and €10 for the domain, total of €55 ex vat a month. I'm afraid there is no 'reasonably priced uncapped dsl'. The only other uncapped dsl packages are close to €100 a month or more.
Why would they force you to pay for a domain ?
Cause they don't make much money from their dsl, they make more selling domains and hosting.

What exactly is a domain useful for ? I guess I've only really heard of domain names before.

    IDM,

It is the 'domain name' that they are selling you for €10/month. 'Domain' = 'Domain name' in this discussion.
