Not sure if this should go in the horror forum or the film forum... judging by the trailer, its probably more suited to horror.

I just saw the trailer for this movie here and it looks like a seriously f**ked up, gory movie....

Has anyone seen it? Is it worth buying the DVD?

    - Dave.

Yer its not really a horror

but it is a great movie. worth buying

    Thats an interesting point.

    So what exactly is horror?

Scares? Mindf*cks? Single psycho with a hook/axe/knife/*insert sharp object here*, killing cute teenage girls and dumb jocks?

I would have thought buckets of the red stuff would put this in the 'horror' category...

    - Dave.

No, it's more of a Yakuza mob war type film.
    But seriously, it's awesome.

Run out and buy it this instant.
Although, I unfortunaly bought the UK DVD edition which came with over 3 minutes worth of cuts. Which, in this day and age, is just utterly ridiculous. Buy it from www.ichithekiller.com and avoid utterly nasty and gratutious cut-aways.

It's definetly one of my favorite movies of all time, I watched it about 4 times since I got it. It can be quite a hard film to watch, and will seriously put anyone through an endurance test. Even had a friend of mine, who is pretty big on his horror films, winced like a little girl after a particularly nasty torture scene. But it's got a fantastic story, brilliant characters, and it's amazingly well writen and directed. It's a pure marvel to behold.

I dont think you can buy Ichi the Killer anymore. Was it not released for one week only? I bought it myself and I must say that it is a fantastic film well worth searching out.

Great film. Not for people with a weak stomach though. Expect to see lots of gore, torture and general nasty things.

The part with the tongue really is one to watch out for. And those shoes! Sweet!

No, you can still get it.
If you don't mind shelling out £30stg you can get the uncut Dutch version off Amazon.nl.

AW, it's not available to buy from the ichi.com site yet.

If you enjoy Ivhi the Killer then you should check out Versus and the Story of Ricky. Versus is one of the best films I have seen in ages. The Story of Ricky is good but a little far fetched.

Well i cant go check that link in work atm, i cant down load trailers in here. But as long as angle whore gives it a thumbs up and its full of Gore than it has a place in here, even if it is not really a horror film! It has horror elements, Gore!

I will be looking out for this one!

Well, then it would probably be best to wait untill it is available.
£30 is quite a lot of money, for any DVD.
I'm getting someone to get the version from ichithekiller.com for me however.

Darko, Versus is indeed also fantastic, not as good as Ichi, not even vaguely similar, but fantastic none-the-less.

For those who aren't familiar with Versus, try and imagine Crouching Tiger Hidden Dragon, Braindead, Resivior Dogs, The Evil Dead, The Matrix, and The Lost Boys all having a massive ****ing fight in the middle of a forest, and you'd be somewhat close. It's low budget, and the film made my jaw drop far more than all the multi-million dollar special effects shots in Matrix Reloaded.

Haven't gotten around to seeing Story Of Ricky yet, but it does come highly reconmended.

Nice to know that my opinion is so respected here, Spooky. ;)

Also, check out my Avatar, it's Kakihara from Ichi The Killer.
He's possibly the greatest anti-hero in cinematic history, Ichi is really his film.

Ricky-Oh is quite a funny film.
It has gore, but it wouldnt belong on this board imo. It's a martial arts film. Ichi is a film full of sadism. Takeshi Miiake (sp) is a bit fucked up in the head. :ninja:

Takashi Miike is a genius tbh.
I've already got Audition on order, should be in soon enough.

I really cant wait to see it.

It's so fuzzy, and I have my monitor set to such a ridiculously high resolution that I honestly thought it was Ryan Dunn from Jackass.

    Just sayin'.

In a similar vein: I found Dead or Alive to be quite interesting.

excellent movie , but euh.. don't eat anything beforehand, don't watch it with the girlfriend, don't leave it with a mentaly off-balanced friend.

consider it to be a loaded gun, ready to shoot away at whats left of your perception of 'normal'

    Audition is great tbh.

I love odd films, and Audition starts off really different to the way it ends. At some parts during the film it seems like a completely different genre.

Little pricey for a film it must be good.

Im halfway through it atm - had to stop to get somthing to eat - not sure what to think so far ...
the bit where the guy gets chop'd down the middle was really really **** - if they dont have the effects availible to make it look good they shouldnt bother imo - its also cliched - the torture scene where the guy is hanging from the ceiling was brilliant - really well done and some of the best cringe moments in any film

it's a live action versino of an anime film, it wouldn't be right if it didn't look a bit.. strange in places :)

finished watching it the other day - was very good ! one of the most gory films ive ever seen ... which was nice :)
