    Regarding the finale:
    Opera + Satan + robots = YES!

It is, in its way, proof of the self destructive nature of people that when the very last episode of what one saw as nothing more than a mediocre series leaves them wishing that there was loads more it's regarded as a great success. Or maybe I'm just a big masochist.

but it was a very good series. after a shaky start it rose to become so much better than the current crop of rubbish simpsons episodes. no more futurama, family guy axed and with frankie muniz well into puberty there are precious little quality tv shows left.

Five Seasons (and 72 eps) afaik?

I have to say I think I lol'd more times during those final two eps of Futurama than I have in the the last few seasons of the simpsons.

You gotta wonder about your average tv viewer (and the people who call the shots in tv-land) when a still-fresh show like Futurama can be canceled.

"They are emitting over 40 megafonzies of coolness!"

    Classic:D
Nevertheless I think the simpsons is still a better show, even the new episodes(although tonights episode sort of limped a bit in the second half at times). Futurama was good(particularly series 1)but it still never matched the simpsons IMO.

I quite liked Fry's comment in the first ep tonight about the hypnotism-thingie series not being any good after season 3:D

Off topic, but the Simpsons is trying too hard to be wacky and irreverent these days, ie, more like Family Guy. It's not Family Guy, it fails horribly. Tonight's bizarre episode is somewhat indictive of that.

On topic, I think Futurama was incredibly inconsitent, with entire episodes that are either dull or outstanding. The balance between the two was right to keep it a must-see, though. I mean, at times it was really outstanding. A bit like Red Dwarf in that respect, actually. Mmmm funny sci-fi.

It is truly sad. All my favourite shows are ending or getting cancelled.

So far recently Futurama, Family Guy and Firefly have all been axed :(

(Odd, they all start with F aswell....)

They were all killed by the network execubots! Let's see what's on TV next year *throws a dice* Games shows are back :(

It doesn't pay it seems to be creative or original....

can't wait for more futurama checkHere

season 3 and 4 were my favourites and i can't wait to add to my collection of season 1, 2 and 3.

futurama in my mind has been better than the simpsons since it came out the simpsons just tries to be too funny and the humor they use is not as good as it use to be.

where will i get my entertainment now

    simpsons is gone crap
    family guy is axed
    futurama is axed

    futurama will be missed!

Nah that's it. Though futurama do run on cartoon network now - they won't make any more new episodes. The teams (I'm guessing) will disband and start to work on other projects.

Terribly, terribly sad state of affairs I must say - the last two episodes of futurama easily eclipsed the last two seasons of the simpsons.

However, in saying that, the show bowed out with grace and style, which is unknown to most (especially the aforementioned simpsons - which I feel should now bog off basically - everything is too clean-cut in that programme now, it lacks the edge it once had.)

I'll certainly be buying the entire show on DVD.

They were clearly having random pokes atthe way TV is run on the last two eps. The execubots. Rolling the dice to determine shows. Fry's comments on the Hypnotoad.

The network execubots were spot on :D

Did anyone else get a lump in their throat at the way the final episode ended? Awwwwwww....

    There's still King of Hill.
But I didn't know about Family Guy being axed.
Besides the Simpsons it was the best.
Murdock is further proof that CEO's are a waste of resources (and should be turned into soilent green).

The show ending is a god damn tragedy in my opinion. The executive producer david cohen said that the chances of it returning are slim to none. The cartoon network want to pick it up - it and family guy are CN's two most successful shows in its history, demonstrating how badly the network execubots got it wrong on FOX. CN would pick up the show but its budget is big, and a lot of the staff are doing other things.

However the good-ish news, is that family guy will "probably" return, in the words of its maker seth mcfarlane. He said that the dvd sales have been so successful it will probably make one more straight to dvd appearance in the form of a movie or a batch of episodes as 6 episodes of the show have already been written.

Ah, I remember back in 1999 when Family Guy and Futurama first appeared. It was great cause it was a superior alternative to The Simpsons, which had been going downhill around about then.

Sadly, they're both gone, and shall be missed...

I hope thats the case. The season 3 DVD is superb. a lot of people I know have it. when I first saw it, it was at the same time that I was noticing a decline in the quality of the simpsons...It really was hilarious. its definetly worth the purchase

Indeedy! Brian on cocaine is great :D When Meg's complainig about weight and he just yells, "Here's a tip: Put down the fork! FACE!" Hehe. But no episode is as funny as the Willy Wonka piss-take from Season 2, Ep17 "Wasted Talent".
Especially the Chumba Wumba's philosophical song abot disabilities:

    Chumba wumba gobbledy goo
life isn't fair, it's sad but it's true
    Chumba wumba gobbledy gee
When your poor legs are stiff as a tree
What do you do when your stuck in a chair?
Finding it hard to go up and down stairs
What do you think of the one you call God?
Isn't his absence slight-ly odd? (maybe he's forgotten you)
    Chumba wumba gobbledy gorse
Count yourself you're not a horse
They would turn you into dog food
or to chumba wumba gobbledy glue.

Being a fan of the movie, I think that was possibly the funniest thing I've ever seen in my life! So funny it actually hurt. How many other shows can do this? None...

I did :'( Although I accidentally changed onto Sky One at the last scene (was recording it for later viewing), so that kinda wrecked the anticipation. Nevertheless it was a great episode.

Loved the way the devil was orchestrating the "Robot Hell" song and said something along the lines of "Gah, you went wrong two centuries ago" :D

Very sad to see it finished :'(

PS, I thought the way Futurama had a PJ's sewer cover and The PJ's had Fry on a milk carton was class :)

    It is what it's.
