A above - Has anyone gotten Netsource DSL on the 289 (foxrock) exchange?

And if so - is it operating correctly?

    Cheers,

    Hi,

It seems that Netsource has some trouble with this exchange, I got my install kit on the 7th and was suppose to be connected the 14th but they messed up with the order to Eircom to activate my line...
When I called them on Friday, they said they should put a new order to Eircom today!!

yeah - i got ativated on 14th - DSL modems (plural, i bought another on to test the line just to be sure) say it's a 512/128 g.DMT but no joy with authenticating.

got the email from netsource saying they had passed the issue onto eircom...

    Hi Tribble,

    Which modem are you using?
I bought a Zoom X3... hopefully it will work but as my line is not activate yet... I'm not sure.

I have a USrobotics 9003 Router (and D-Link DSL-200 aswell, just to test). My line has problems though (at eircoms end, they're working on it now)

Your Zoom/Hayes should work fine - Netsource did have some problems previously with some routers (netsol?) but I doubt we'll have any problems. My previous thread re the USR 9003 not working with Netsource is unproven as the problem turned out to be at exchange level and is being fixed.

Most people seem to use D-Link equipment on their Netsource lines (the 504 modem/router). But I think it's just because it's widly available.
Personally i like Zoom equipment but I went for the USR as I will be building a wireless network around their gear.

Will post back when (if?) I get it working.

I will use my Zoom to build a wireless network, I have a Sitecom Wireless Broadband Home Station .
I choose that one for the Printer port... so far (without ADSL  ) it works well.

    Looks nice:)

My reasons are more aestetic than practical.
Though looking round here you may think otherwise:eek:

Still no joy, they're getting me to do all the usual hoop jumping that I've already done (reset my modem/computer, plug modem into the masterbox, yadda, yadda)

    /me is pissed off

When I called Netsource yesterday, "Kevin" told me that my line is not activate yet as for a lot of people and that only 1 personn was connected to Foxrock Exchange with Netsource...
If you're the one... you don't look connected to me! :(

    What should I do...
I like Netsource's package, it is the right one for me but
    -with your problem
-the bad pings (I'm not into gaming but...)
    -the routing issues
-the way they messed up with my domain (register to a wrong name)
-the way they dealt with the activation on the Foxrock Exchange (according to them, they put the orders to Eircom too soon and now they had to wait for these orders to be canceled before ordering again... )

If I checked the other ISP:
-UTV: I don't want the phone service because I moved already to Esat BT because they are the cheaper for my usage (8c/min off peak Europe).
-Eircom: well, if I can avoid... just because it's Eircom, you know!
-EsatBT, I'm not sure they are available from Foxrock Exchange, I should give them a call.
-Wireless ISP, I'm in a "blackspot" and failed LOS... too bad it was my preference.

    Thanks

Well, maybe Eircom... but I'm wondering if it can be an issue to have moved my phone calls to Esat?!

Yep, I'm still not connected. Hi Brian,

    ****************************************
Thanks for that. Eircom have done the line test again and another fault
has shown up so it has been assigned to another engineer. I'll be in
contact if I have an update.

The key words in the above email is ANOTHER FAULT.
I've beem "connected" 5 days now and still no BB.
They don't do support on weekends (wtf!, it's supposed to be a business product, business work weekends - but not netsource)

Personally I'd go for IOL - they are owned by Esat AFAIK.
So there should be no problem with your phone calls.

btw - Netsource never even registered my domain name.

I'm going to do the same... bye bye Netsource!

Edit: I asked Esat and my line is ok for them, they send the form today...

    raphaelS:

Does esat have the foxrock exchange?
I'd love to have esat dsl!

The guy I spoke to this morning check my line and said it was ok... give them a ring: 1800 923 111 (You'll need your Eircom A/C number).

By the way, it seems Netsource is able to sort out their problems on this Exchange, so I will give them one more chance before moving to Esat.

    Thanks

    Glimmerman -

i don't think they do their business product (carried accross esat owned DSLAM's) in foxrock.

but iol (owned by esat? afaik) resell eircoms RADSL via a bitstream agreement.
This is what utv, netsource do aswell.

ah, right... hmmm... I'm kinda keen on the business solution, but I'll look into the radsl offer. I'm currently on irishwisp, their customer service is great, but the network is dodgy pingwise a bit of the time. not sure I'd do much better with radsl given all the complaints recently about netsource.

So I had an Eircom engineer out here today looking at the DSL line.
Netsource aent him out - said he was told to charge me for the inspection but wasn't going to. Nice chap - even looked after a seperate issue for me. Turns out the line was fine...

Only one problem - It still can't connect to Netsource.
    I have a couple of modems (D-Link 200 and a USR 9002) and a 3 computers so I know it's not my gear.

    Bloody Netsource!
    grrrrrrrrrr....

Should have said that the modems trains correctly and report the line operational (512/128 DMT rADSL).
Just now data travels between me and Netsource.
Pretty sure it anit eircom as the eingineer got them to ping his gear (on my line) from ther end.

    Hi Tribble,

Did you try to say that you want to cancel your order and go to someone else (UTV, IOL)?
I've done that this morning by email and it makes Netsource react! It seems that they had to pay Eircom to activate your line and even if you cancel (I guess you can as it doesn't work!) they will have to pay Eircom anyway.

Thing is I really want Netsource - but if this keeps up for more than another day or two then I have really no option but to leave...

Update : the foxrock exchange is fuxored - see below for the email i recieved this morning...
I kinda have good news, apparently there's a fault on the Foxrock
exchange which is causing problems for all the DSL users on that
exchange. This is good news for us as we now know what the problem is,
and as it affects all the customers on that exchange, it should be
fixed pretty quickly - or as quickly as they can anyway! :)
I'm afraid I couldn't get a date from Eircom, but hopefully you should
be back up and running by the weekend.

Duped I'm afraid lads. I can guarantee you there is problem with the exchange. This sounds like Netsource trying to invent excuses for all their f*ck ups.

    Regards.

Sorry. Should read no problem with the exchange.

    Regards.

OAM loopback test are not working.

My D-Link 200 is connecting - we are go :)
    but...
Netsource doesn't apperar to work with a number of modems.

The D-Link 200 USb which works perfectly.
I also have a USR9003 which will not.
There are a few other brands that have problems too.
This doesn't happen on eircom or iol- so it's not the exchange.
