    Hi,

After doing some basic research and reading many review, I'll go for the D-link 504 Modem/Router/4x10-100 for my Netsource future connection.

Yet, browsing the D-link ftp site ftp://ftp.dlink.co.uk/pub/broadband/ I noticed 2 entries for the 504 device: Rev A and Rev B

Does anybody know what the diference is between them? Anything I should be aware of before I buy the wrong one?

    Thanks,
    Butch

    See the following:

I have a Rev B 504 without a reset button and with a 9pin serial link so who knows what the actual differences are

    Hi daz,

Thanks for the cool link... Lots of stuff to read next weekend ;)

I wonder what's the story about that RJ14 Serial connector replacing the 9-pin, and the need for a special gadget to access the serial console...

I have a problem with my 504 in that the configuration screen sometimes does not show fully. Just wondering if any of you guys have come across it?

When I go into the configuration screen under multiple pvc the frame where the important details are entered more often than not does not show so that the details can be entered - luckinly enough I have a mac and the screen does in fact show fully there but on the pc theres a problem

We have a 504 here and I don't like it.

We had a Solwise SAR-715 before it, but at taht time Netsource were using PAP authentication, and the SAR couldn't change mid-connect. Literally 12 hours after I popped the SAR back in the post they'd switched back to CHAP on both stages and everything would've been hunk dorey.

I don't like the 504 because it feels looks and runs like a piece of cheap shit even though it was as expensive as the SAR (bit were ~€170 delivered to my door.
The thing has over-heated and cut out on us numerous times and is bloody frustrating. There are no ventilation holes on the top (heat apparently doesn't rise in Taiwan) and it's a plastic case, which really doesn't help the heat to radiate away, the SAR was the opposite, lovely sturdy metal case and vents all over the place. Had a nice little power switch too.
