Star Wars Computer Games

Who has played any of the recent Star Wars games??

The last game I played was Jedi Knight 2:Outcast and it's a pretty good game. I was always a big fan of the X-wing games. I spent months playing X-Wing when it came out and then Tie Fighter. They were just amazing games at the time. X-Wing vs Tie fighter kpet me going for a while then and Balance of Power was a good laugh. X-Wing Alliance was good for the graphics and the chance to take part in some cool battles and of course fly the falcon into the death star (and back out):D

I've also had a go at Supremacy, Racer, the first two Dark forces games, the two rebel assaults and rogue squadron. None of them really were as addictive as X-Wing was when it forst came out though.

So, what about the new games? Has anyone played them or heard much about the new titles coming out? Have we got to a stage where games come and go so quickly we just move on and never play them again?? Will there ever be another X-Wing?? I wouldn't mind seeing a version incorporting the events in the New Jedi Order. It'd be cool to blast a few skips.

If you haven' played Galactic Battleground, it is a very very good game.
Great head to head, and versus the computer

From what I've heard, Jedi Academy should be out on the 15th of September. Nice!

Have played every SW game cept Battlegrounds and Racer (crap franchise bullsh1t in my opinion)

I love Supremacy, man that game has severe potential.

Recently i got Starfleet Command III. What i would give for a SW version of that game. Man, Taking command of an ISD-II, mmmm, delusions of grandure, i think so :D

Yeah Supremacy is great once you get into it. I've played Galactic Battlegrounds and liked it a lot. Also played Force Commander, forgto about that one.

What I'd really like to see is the mod for battlefield 1942 being done really well, like they did with Desert Combat. I haven't heard too much about it yet.

Tie Fighter is the best sw game ever!

Supremacy is also good although half the game is crap, that being the whole fleet battle thing.

Hey, forgot to mention, if your into XvT, TIE and XWA have a scoot on over to The Galactic Empire

ITs a great online community for those games, and has about 60 battles made by members, some are bloody hard. Its going through a bit of a reshuffle, so if you do join you may have to wait a bit to be allocated to a squadron. Its a great atmosphere there, I've been a member for nearly three years.

Have a look, and if you join, tell em Drazhar sent you!!!

jedi Outcast is awesome, it's like being on cr*ck, it's so addictive... and it's really good online, too.

Can't wait to play the new Jedi Academy game. Looks really, really cool. Designing your own lightsaber! What could be better than that.

Also dying to try the new online star wars game, an empire divided. Haven't gotten round to it yet though.

And yes, I have to agree. TIE Fighter was such a cool game. Definatly the best of it's kind ever. X-Wing was good to, but I only ever played a few levels of it. Same as in the first X-Wing book, the redemption scenario was WAY to hard. Never bothered to get past it.

Just finished the new Jedi Academy game, and boy does it kick ****. It get's especially cool bout half way in, nearly every enemy you come across has a lightsaber, and at that point every enemy could possibly kill, and it happen's a lot that they do. Which is of course a good thing. Make's the game more challenging and realistic. If you can call a game set a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away realistic that is.

Also kewl is getting a choice of lightsaber. Went for twin lightsabers meself this time, and fighting with them is excellent fun. Haven't tired of it yet. From throwing one around the room, and taking out a few stormies on the way, to locking sabers with someone, and watching as you cut them in half in slow-mo after winning the match, it's all GOOD.

Anyway, anyone else played this brilliant game yet, or is it just me?

Just finished Jedi Outcast. Marvellous, like the Matrix with lightsabres...

Although I miss the FMV cutscenes. It was better suited to the game, I thought. Oh well.

The whole Dark Forces/Jedi Knight series is well worth a go.

i played X-Wing Alliance last year. It was a good legnth and built up really well to the final battle scene of SW6. For a moment one might even feel a part of the adventure. :) If only they had the technology to film episode 1, 2 and 3 back in the eighties with half the chemistry of 4,5 and 6 we might have more decent computer games to play.

bah, i'm still waiting to get my hands on an ISD.

Played Galactic Battle Grounds. Thought it sucked, just Age Of Empires with Stormtroopers. We want original games!! XWA kicks severe ass, and is class for multiplayer.

Jedi Academy. What can i say. It bloody rules. Went for twin lightsabers myself aswell, very cool. Managed to kill a large number of guys with that Force Speed, Side Step, slice maneuver.

Also trying to do it as the dark side. feckin hard. the last level, where the Jedi are assaaulting the temple. not only are the Dark Siders after you, so are the shaggin Jedi. If you walk into a battle between the two, they both go after ya!!!

yea have to admit Jedi academy does kick some serious @ss
one of the more enjoyable games ive played recently both that and jedi knight 2 was a really good game

i was a big fan of X-wing really liked that game, wasnt a big fan of battlegrounds as mentioned before its just age of empires with stormtroopers didnt bring anything fresh to the genre.

i dont know an Xbox or PS2 so im waiting for knight of the republic to be released on PC so i can play that too man that looks like a good game.

JK II is great but you can really only go so far in it. It's one of those games that once you master it in multiplayer there's nothing else to do.

When it first came out around patch version 1.02, a lot of the top players quit because it became repetative. They were basically going out and beating everyone. 1.03 was much the same but by then most of the top players had already started leaving. By the time 1.04 came out most people were unhappy with some of the random hit points but it made the game a bit more saber oriented where you had to learn to saber and do combo's etc in order to win your games. Still though it became something that you would have x amount of top players and the others would never amount to much.

Being at the top of that game can get boring. It's a laugh when you're drunk and you take out a server with 30 odd other people in there and everyone chasing you but never getting you, but when sober it becomes repetative.

Personally I can't wait to play SWG. I don't have any illusions of becoming a Jedi (I heard somethinb about you can only die 3 times before you lose your jedi status forever) but i'm looking forward to checking out the different classes and making a name for myself in that universe.

oh god yea i forgot all about SWG!!!

as soon as i get broadband and SWG my life will be ruined.....forever!

Just finished playing Knights of the Old Republic on the Xbox, and have to say, best Star Wars game i've ever played. Took me just over 50hrs to do it, but I played in for unnatural amounts, and that 50hrs only took like 4 days I think. It's that good, especially the story, I NEVER saw the plot twist coming. Admittedly i'm not that good at seeing 'em coming, cause I never think that far ahead, but still!

Gonna be replayin it again withing the next few days, to go down the dark side, and see how that plays out. Last bit of the game is kinda frustrating, but in a good way, in that you keep retrying it, till you get it. I had a ridiculous amount of saves for the last two hours or so of the game.

Anyway, just to recap: this game blows both Jedi Knight games out of the water, in every sense imaginable, especially story wise. I'll never stop laughing at Bastilla tripping up Mission with teh Force when Mission gets on her nerves, the characters are just that Kewl.

I've never played JKII single player though - I just went straight for multiplayer, so I wouldn't know.
