Im thinking of gettin broadband soon since it will be coming to my area but hate the sound of having a tiny cap, is there any chance that both Eircom and IOL will change their caps to sommet more reasonable like 10gb or 20gb per month in the future? If this woz the case i would go with them over netsource since i hear so many bad things about netsource here. Surely these 4gb and 5gb are not gonna stay like that forever? with BB becoming more and more popular this limit is just so ridicilious giving the power of broadband, i think between 10gb and 20gb per month wud be more usefull.

not likely in the short term

But tobe honest i havent hit 1 gig in 15 days so the cap is fine depending on what you use it for

If they were going to higher the cap then they'd make it a new package and charge a bit more for it

I think its more likely that as it becomes more widespread, dsl prices will come down and caps will get more reasonable. Different packages are likely, but i doubt that the price will go up at this stage unless your getting a LOT more bang for your buck (2mb etc)

Bottom Line to the original poster, if your getting broadband for gaming or plan to game a lot - dont go with netsource.

After 15 days i haven't reached 1gig either. And i do some serious online gaming on Xbox Live. Plus i download content for my xbox all the time. I just don't download DIVX movies and crap software.

I got broadband for all day internet and online gaming. Maybe a few perks like mp3s and south park episodes but thats it.

after 15 days i'm at 1.75 gigs, but some of that is lots of mp3's, and a few failed attempts to get the new counter-strike beta off steam (which is about 400mb of the 1.75 gigs), either way, seeing as Ireland is a 3rd world country when it comes to communications, the caps aren't too bad, maybe one day the US will come, blow up eircom, and get some oil company to run it... only problem is i dont know which is worse!

where exactly is your area? Are wireless companies like IrishWisp and IBB there? they both have no caps and good services.
