Slight loss of feeling in my finger.

About a week ago i leaned forward and put my elbows down on my desk, not banging them down fast, just placing them down. and i felt a tingle in my left arm. Then I noticed that the tip of my little finger on my left hand was kind of numb.
The best way I can describe it is, you know when you cut off the blood to your hand for a bit the, the tingly sensation you get just before the pins and needles kick in.
It's not completely numb, but it feels kind of deadened. I also feel that it's been kind of spreading down my finger.
And no, I don't frequently cut off the blood to my hand.
Anyone have any idea what it might be? and do you think a trip to my local GP is in order?

And yes, I think it's leprosy!

that's weird, i've been experiencing the same thing for the last couple of weeks ...the outer edge of my palm, my pinky and sometimes the second finger 'tingle'
i think it's cos i often end up sleeping on my arms .. but it's more persistent now ..
i'm probably going to have to go to a gp though :(

Nah, if you go to a doctor he just might send you to a leper colony.

    Im sure its nothing serious.

I did something similar to my hand when I worked in Xerox. I felt a pop in the side of my hand (along the outer edge of the palm) on the side of my little finger. It was tingling and not sore so much as annoying.... Long story short, I was sent to the Occupational Health Officer on site and she sent me to the Hospital..... a nerve in my hand was trapped and was in spasm....
they put a quare looking bandage on it and a few days later it was grand.

Thats the thing though, I always sleep on my right side, so i don't think that's it.

I get that all the time - I also put it down to leprosy, cancer of the arm, impending heart attacks etc - however, I have a heart condition, so I always ask me doctor about little things like this. He reckons it's nothing - standard nerve, circulatory stuff.

Do you do any exercise? Are you stressed out? Do you have any circulatory problems (that you know of)? Do you smoke a lot of spliff (ah-hah!)?

If you're freaked you may as well visit the Doc - get a coupla days off work from him anyway (stress is a great one 'cos if they refuse you can sue them - they never refuse!)

I think it's the sort of thing you wait out - a friend of mines entire hand went numb when he slept on it drunk.

The doctor called it "saturday night hand" and told him to wait it out.

So he paid €40 for someone to laugh at him.

I laughed at him for free.

Think it's a good idea to go to gp, it sounds like your circulation is blocked and the longer you leave the worse it could get.

    Better to be safe!

    Good luck.:)
