Haven't won or even got a point since Mick McCarthy took over at Sunderland. They lost 2-0 to Forest this weekend. He dropped two of his players because on the morning of the match they missed training.

"We got on the bus for training at 10am and I was two players short. There was a power cut in the hotel and they didn't get alarm calls they'd booked - but that is no excuse"

I think this is going to be a very tough season for Sunderland supporters !!!!!

As for McCarthy I reckon he will be replaced by November.

    Gandalf.

Yeah ... McCarthy would want to start winning some games real soon. Otherwise he could be in for a really short stay at Sunderland.

Sunderland played very well against forest, I thought. He should have played phillips tho, Kyle is crap. And what the hell is he doin singing gary breen, the man who couldnt get into the west ham back 4?

Dont think hell lose his job, might just make a playoff spot, especially if they can get Healy (or has he allready gone to leeds?)

If Sunderland lose their next 2 games it will be the worst run of defeats by any English league team ever ! Wouldn't look too good on the oul CV Mick.

Surely a portion of that run pre-dates Macca at Sunderland? I think they are probably a lost cause with or without him, they might get a playoff place but will more likely struggle to get into the top half of the table.

McCarthy was never sane in the first place
He is a grade A muppet....
Sunderland have alot of problems at the moment but he will turn out to be the worst...
And they havent a hope of the playoffs.
McAteer as captain??? Hahahhaha says it all really,
Rumours has it that when McAteer was ordering a pizza and when asked if he'd like it cut into four or eight slices he said four cuz he'd never manage to eat eight...

the english couldnt see why ireland got rid of him, they laughed at us. now we can laugh at them.

sunderland under reid were a mid-table premiership club with nice stadium, good support etc.. now their in div1 with financial problems, mc carthy, babb and mc ateer as captain. mc carthy has taken a good club and destroyed it.

Now I'm not a McCarthy supported but you are talking rubbish. Sunderland were bottom when Reid was sacked . They were bottom when Wilkinson was sacked. So how is it down to Mick that Sunderland are the state they are in?
Remember it was Reid who brought the likes of Flo, Stewart, Babb and Reyna to the club and spent a lot of money doing it.
McCarthy has had nothing to spend and has had to sell all his better or more experienced players.
    Give him a chance FFS.

Also remember that Forest are not a bad side they got to the playoffs last season and Sunderland still had a lot of chances to win the game.
They also have a lot of their more experienced players to come back in. Breen, Reyna and Thornton will improve the side and I can see them getting promoted if they can get another striker.

reid is a much better manager than mc carthy. if sunderland had of kept him, they would have stood a much better chance of survival.

if its not mc carthy's fault sunderland havnt won a game in 2003 then who's is it????? give him a chance you say, how long does he need, wilkinson got less time than mc carthy.

making mc ateer captain proves how much mc carthy knows about his side.

Wilkinson had something to do with them losing games in 2003.
Anyway I never said he wasn't at fault for losing those games.
I took issue with you saying he took a good club and destroyed it.
How is a club at the bottom of the Premiership a good club. They were practically relegated by the time he took over.
He had nothing to do with the financial mess they are in. That is mainly down to the board and Reids purchase of Flo and Stewart who were panic buys and absolute disasters.

The biggest mistake McCarthy made was to take the job when he did.
He should have waited till the season was over.
There was no way he could have saved them.
I think that is a more telling indictment of his managerial capabilities than making McAteer captain.

he hasnt won a game yet. thats the bottom line. i thought managers were judged on results??

mc carthy would be out by now had sunderland not sacked reid and wilkinson. they're holding onto him because they dont want the embarasmnt of sacking a third manger in a year.

mc carthy hasnt won a single game in a year, with ireland or sunderland. he's been managing over 6mnths. it was the worst ever finish in the premiership. mc carthy had 10 games to save sunderland, yes it was already impossible but winning NONE of them was poor management.

i'll be shocked if sunderland win promotion this year.

That's all fine but you are still managing to miss the point that colster is trying to make. It's not Mccarthys fault that the club is in the state that it's in - like you claimed earlier.

The bottom line as you put it, is more about survival - whether a relegated clubs ends up in recievership. Sunderland would be in the position they are in now with or without Mccarthy. One game into the season is not the time to start taking the knives out.
