    My Band has just got 3 mics, and i was wondering if it was possible to get an adapter that would enable us to run our microphones through guitar amps, as we have little money for mic moniters (or whatever you run them through).
    can someone tell me if this is possible, and how much you would be expecting to pay for them?

    You can run mics directly through guitar amps, you just won't get great quality out of it. With sufficient messing about with gain and tone controls though, you can get something remotely useful for practicing.

    Just be careful. When you switch the amp on, just make sure either the mic is turned off, or the amp is fully turned down. And if there's any overdrive buttons or stuff, make sure they're off too. The feedback generated if something's set wrong can be something serious (yes, I have blown an amp in this way :D)

    Putting mics through a guitar amp is going to be bad news all the way. Just don't bother.

    Get yourselves a PA system.

    The mics you got may have the cannon (3 pin) connector, these give better quality sound, if you just get a mic lead with a jack connection you can plug in to the amps, just take note of what seamus said.


    Getting your own PA is the best option, but this would do for now, if you are using this for practice fair enough, playing live monitors are not necessary, (depending on the size of the venue), Ive managed to sing for the past few years without monitors (they are handy though)

    ****ing bad news dont do it unless you have an amp you dont need. It wrecks the amp for guitar :( who is in ur band connor?

    you're probably better off playing through bass amp(s) if you can. But after all is said and done, you're better off getting a pa and running guitars and all through it. Easier to mix levels than with seperate amps too!

    well, a P.A is kinda out of our league as we
    a) dont really need one
    b) have no money

    but i think the mic's have got 3 pin plugs so i was just wondering if there is adapters available, or if we are really frigged on this one. the amps are not really gonna be used for any guitar, so its ok, and i doubt they will get blown as they are only 10 watt amps.

    You can get different leads to plug into you mic at the back that have guitar jacks on the end of them.

    I've never had problems using my guitar amps for vocals, maybe they have Corgi Amps here eh?
