Anyone physically in the Galway area available to keep
some Debian Systems up to date with security patches?

Systems running iptables bind and postfix, but little else.

Some Solaris experience would be an advantage,
    but not essential.

You can PM/mail me for further discussion,
or post here any feelings you might have on using this particular board for Unix related work postings!

Couldn't you just add the security servers to /etc/apt/sources.list, and add apt-get upgrade to your crontab?

why can't you do it remotely?
    aren't they online?

Yeah, I'd offer to do it remotely. The only reason for physical access would be for hardware upgrades. If the system needs to be hard rebooted, surely someone around where the machine is hosted can do that?

I wouldn't have said 'physically' if it wasn't a requirement.

There is a need for some of the systems to be isolated,
    hence no dialin.

Remotely I can do myself, but thanks Gerry.

The client wants a relationship with someone who CAN be available for bits and pieces. I'm no longer willing to travel.

apt-getting security is fine and covers most bases,
but each machine is a part of a network that needs to be monitored when changes are made.

    Anyone else?
