    I presume the strong Euro has a lot to do with this, considering, less than a year ago, it was worth only 62p sterling and is currently steady at 71p

    A lot of pressure on the flip side with our competitiveness though.
    Presumably Greed will continue, and jobs will be lost to more competive labour markets.

    absolutely amazing if it was for the gov. our inflation would be 2.1 another indictment of this gov.

    actually oil price reductions seem to have an amazing effect

    The most dramatic increases in the year were in alcoholic drinks and tobacco, up 9.9%, education up 9.9% and health costs up 8% on the year.

    Also since last July, restaurants, hotels and bar charges were up 6.6% and miscellaneous good and services increased by 5.8%. Clothing and footwear fell by 4.6%.
