Gay Men’s Health Project (GMHP), the Rainbow Project and Sigma Research are working together on a pilot Internet survey for men who have sex with men (MSM) and living in Ireland. This is part of the yearly Vital Statistics survey held in England and Wales since 1997 by Sigma Research and is the largest surveys on sex between men in the World. They generate a wealth of information for planners and promoters of HIV and sexual health. Sigma research has worked with organisations in Ireland previously and with Gay Health Network published Vital Statistics Ireland -the findings from the All-Ireland gay sex survey 2000 (soon fully available in PDF format at www.gayhealthnetwork.ie and www.sigmaresearch.org.uk )


Because many men living in Ireland had completed the Internet section of the 2002 UK study it was decided that the 2003 survey would contain a separate section for men resident in Ireland. GMHP are promoting the site for men resident in the 26 counties and Rainbow Project for those resident in the 6 counties. (The questionnaire in booklet form is been distributed in the 6 counties only). Any findings will be detailed and distributed locally by GMHP and the Rainbow Project with Sigma Research.
