I see this gnome vs kde post, me personally if i Had to chose, Gnome for sure, kde applications are better, like konqueror obviously kicks nautilus ass, but gnome is slicker, so just run kde stuff thru gnome.

But, why limit urself to this. Use linux properly and go for an origional desktop manager, like fluxbox. u can scroll thru the 4 virtual screens with your mouse wheel. Simpe bash menu configuration system, and tabbed applications so I can open konqueror, terminal and a all sorts of aplications in the same space. really this another area where linux owns. Check out my current desktop.

I've never liked the look of flux. Much too basic IMO.

fluxbox is nice alright, an very configureable, thats why I like it, pity it has no edge flipping, thats really handy when you've a dual monitor setup..englightenment is also pretty configureable..

the thing that annoy's me about gnome and kde these days is that things are getting less an less configureable an you've to put alot of effort into getting everything the way u want it..unlike flux or enlighenment which can be configured fairly easily..

    anyhow..

flux with edge flipping would be the win.
