The ones in U.L. are going down faster than Swindon.Only a handful of courses above 400, even less over 500.God be with the days when you had to have a brain to get into college. The kids these days don't know what hard graft is.

Should I point out Maynooth has been a university for 200 years?

Indeed, it's UCD and DCU that are the new kids in town. It's interesting to see someone describe DCU as "rox" in any way shape or form... unless of course spending an additional 4 years in a secondary school masquerading as a university is really your kind of thing. "Good education, crap life" seems to be the consensus on DCU.

    Hey Draco,
no you shouldn't say Maynooth has been a university 200 years. It has been a centre of learning for 203 years, a seminarian college for about 150, a college for about 35 and a university for 3.
take it. hargaden proves his history mettle.

    hmmmm,

maynooth a university for three years?

I remember it changing to full NUI status, (before that it was affiliated and still classed as a university).

    Affiliation - pre 1991 (that's when I got there)

Full status: about 1994/5 academic year.

    so that's 4 or 5 years. smile.gif

anyway, yis are all wrong. It's not in Dublin, it's in Kildare! :P (yep, go to maynooth, be exiled in the bog.)

hmmm, perhaps Draco you should stop using a bus timetable to navigate and have a look at an item commonly called a MAP....

    :P

But, if Dublin Bus says it's part of Dublin then I guess all the cartographers in history are wrong because Dublin Bus are NEVER wrong, or late, or rude, or bad drivers.......

    hehe.

    Dublin: a city
Dublin Area: encompassing the city Dublin COUNTY.

phone codes are only for exchanges and cable bundling, they are a service reference.

Transit routes : Only the dublin bus goes there. The arrow services Maynooth by rail, and before you say that that proves it, remember that the arrow also services Sallins and Kildare town both of which a certainly NOT in the dublin area.

    things you have happily ignored.

Post code: is Kildare, NOT Co. Dublin, or Dublin

Social Welfare: funded under the Kildare umbrella, not Dublin or Rathdown.

Television and Radio providers: Not the same as for the Dublin area. (well, could be now with NTL but they weren't).

    /me in pedantic mood. smile.gif

I remember it being very wet, smelling of beer and cigarettes (and other substances), being constantly dark and having nothing but cartoons and power rangers on TV and generally a place where all you do is sit around and occasionally going to a big room far away through the rain to drink tea and eat some non-liquid meals.

Of course that could just be *my* impression of the pace but many students there would agree with me...

oh yeah, and to get out you have to take some exam or something and dress up like batman. smile.gif
