Taipei, Taiwan, July 25th 2003 - ABIT is proud to announce our latest
motherboard, the heir to the fabled MAX series with the latest unique ABIT
Engineered solution that will redefine the industry. The IC7-MAX3 is
equipped with features never even conceived for a desktop motherboard. For
users who require MAXimum security and storage, the ABIT MAX3 features 6
channel serial ATA RAID with the Silicon Image 4-port serial ATA RAID
controller plus native 2 channel support, as well as ABIT's latest ABIT
EngineeredT feature: Secure IDET. But what is most exciting about MAX3 is
that it features the most advanced cooling technology ever seen before on a
    motherboard.

For MAX3, the ABIT Engineers listened to users who were asking for
information security. SecureIDE connects to your IDE hard disk and has a
special decoder; without a special key, your hard disk cannot be opened by
anyone. Thus hackers and would be information thieves cannot access your
hard disk, even if they remove it from your PC. Protect your privacy and
keep anyone from snooping into your information. Lock down your hard disk,
not with a password, but with encryption. A password can be cracked by
software in a few hours. ABIT's SecureIDE will keep government
supercomputers busy for weeks and will keep the RIAA away from your Kazaa
    files.

The biggest load of ****e ever. If you allow uploads, the RIAA can see what files you are sharing, and your ip address. They can then ask your ISP who was using that ip at that time. Currently this only applies in the US, but' I'm sure it will happen in the EU soon enough. This "secureide" will just give you a false sense of security.

This won't stop hackers from using trojans to control your pc as they allready sit on ur harddrive.

I think its a bit of ***** also tbh

how do you disable uploads? you have to allow a minimum of 1 upload at a time afaik?

how do you disable uploads? you have to allow a minimum of 1 upload at a time afaik?

You can set the uploads to 0 in kazaa lite ...go to tools - options - traffic - uploads=0. I would suggest to anyone with a fast connection not to do this cos it destroys the whole concept...if people dont share, then the system wont work.
Thats on kazaa lite...its quite possible that you have to have a minimum one upload allowed with kazaa - but your doing yourself a disservice by not using the hacked lite version.

As regards the future of p2ps, i think theres no immediate danger in ireland as regards prosecution but there will be at some stage. Hubs are the best way to go...find yourself a good private hub. I only use kazaa from time to time cos im still on 56k..

0 uploads is unlimited by default.
Firstly I reccomend that anybody who uses the basic version of Kazaa to get a good spyware remover. and to get Kazaa Lite/ Kazaa K++ instead as they come with the same system but with some nice little extras thrown but are spyware clean.

    How to disable uploads
    Options>Kazaa Options>traffic>Disable sharing.

This should not be done cause if everybody was to do this nobody could get files. Thats why its called peer to peer

it would never happen that kazaa would shut down that way if every1 done it cos atm there is

    3,219246 users online
    703,547,244 files online
    5,430,912 GB online

    From kazaalite webby

    Do I have to share?

You do not have to share files, but it is greatly appreciated. If there were no people sharing files, then you would also not be able to download anything.

Makes me feel scabby for a millisecond, then I realise I don't care :P

Or if you dont mind a little work you can set your shared directory as an empty one. Don't think you can set a different download directory tho but all it means is that you transfer your files out when its finished downloading. That way you are sharing but not any files.
