I seem to remember someone mentioning they had problems with the fog on the q3 demo with a Riva 128...ie: it turned into blocks and triangles. What you need is the latest Nvidia Reference Drivers for the Riva 128:

these should get the card working and they also provide a pretty detailed interface for tweaking it. u also need these to run OpenGL tribes on a Riva 128.
