I have a Powerbook G4 867mhz with 256mb RAM...and it's not enough really! I run photoshop, traktor...lots of memory intensive programs during the day, and it can get quite sluggish.

Now, I understood the max ram on a pbook was 640mb...but now I hear you can install up to a gig? Can anyone help me with this, a gig would be fantastic!

    128mb is soldered on..
So there is only one slot you can change..
Add in a gig.. you get 1152mb ram
You can add as much as you want to 4gig I *believe*
The 640mb limit is just there cos there were no small 1gb chips, and that it has to look a little 'less' attractive than the 15/17 pbooks. Although we all know the 12" is the better one :)

    Do check with tech support.

The 12" is certainly the thing wrt portability... but I got the 17" as a desktop replacement.
We previously had 2 windows desktop machines in the house, taking up two upstairs rooms as offices... Thank **** that life is over and as a thumb in the eye to it, we chucked them out and switched to Apple.
I have the powerbook connected to an airport which is connected to a cable modem. I only bring it to work every now and again (I got a second skin folder for it which is pretty nifty, and a backpack if I need to bring more stuff). It's a bit too big to be lugging around regularly - the 12" would rule for that.... hmmm

Your powerbook should take 1gb of RAM max. Two 512MB sticks is what you need...www.crucial.com will sell you it. :)

    She's talking about the 12" 867mhz

It comes with 128mb soldered on, and an advertised max of 640mb (by adding on a 512mb chip) -- However, 1gb ram chips are avaliable now (although in the $600 range) It is possible to get 1024mb ram.. Personally, Im quite happy with 640mb ram...
