Help - Sound jitters when reading from CD

    Hi Folks!

I built myself a pretty good PC in october of last year. Apart from the time it takes from inserting a CD to when I can read the data from it, one really annoying problem is this:

When I read from either the DVD (x16) or the CDr (x48) when I'm listening to mp3s or playing any kind of sound (game etc), the sound gitters to such an extent that you can bearly recognise what's being played.
I could understand this when I'm buring a CD or something, but not from just reading from one. Both of the drives are fast enough to be able to handle it. I shouldn't have any problem with the processor or sound card either.

I think it may be something to do with hardware addresses or something like that, but I'm not sure exactly what would help the situation.

    Any ideas folks?

    Related Specs:
    CD-Rw: x48
    DVD: x16
    Processor: Athlon 2000 (1.67Mhz)
Sound Card: Creative Audigy 2 Platinum

    Cheers,
    Steve.

Start->Control Panel -> Sounds and Audio Devices -> Audio Tab->Sound and play back, click Volume. Options->Properties. Make sure CD Audio is ticked. Now it should be in the volume options. Mute it. This will stop that crickling sound
