OK heres the deal ( or lack of one)

I, after much hunting and deleberating have decided to go for a
Fender Blues Junior Tube Amp, which for me (admitidally you lot
of shredders will hate it!) is the best little amp for sound/cost.

Checked reviews on net and they said what I wanted to hear -big vintage valve tone, small quality amp. Big knobs that go to 12
    and one channel.Me happy bunny.
Me really happy when I checked th price at a bunch of UK dealers
    all say 350 Sterlig mark.yippee.
OK so 350 sterlig works out to roughly 500 yo yo's.

so innocent little nieve me goes into ,name and shame time,
music maker to price amp. with the mark up for the privilage of living in ireland I expected 550-600 yo yo.

big fat sticker 675 yo yo.

so thats 175 Euro on top of the price that UK companys are making a profit on.

    I miffed.
    I went to musician inc.

    700 Euros.

You have all got to be taking the friggin piff.

I hope someone from these shops reads these boards cause I spend a fairly reasonable amout of dough on gear and I will
never spend a penny now anymore apart from string and plecs.

I live next to the ferry so Im gonna hop on Ferry, go to UK for a day trip, by my amp new for 500 Euro, maybe a bit cheaper with a deal (remember them boys??) and get the ferry back, get langerd and go for a meal and a gig on the dosh I save.

blood suckers.I wish you all very hard times:mad:

I see it as this: Ireland is one of the most expensive countries there is. Shops have their goods priced expensively so that they can actually make enough from selling them to earn a living. Everything is expensive, from clothes, to food, to equipment and everything inbetween.

    It's sad, I know...

What is the name of the store in England, I am going to buy a pa was going to get it from musicstore.de

I think the amp you were talking about is for €577, so if the place in uk is cheaper again i might check that out.

    Hi juno75

I think I should explain a couple of facts to you because it’s important that the record is set straight.

Fender UK adjusted their prices after we brought it to their attention that there were some discrepancies.

I’ve just got off the phone to them and these are the facts:
A Fender Blues Junior FULL RRP in the UK is £399.99 = €615.36
Now I know that you can get discounts there but remember that you can with us too!
    So £350 sounds about right.
The FULL RRP of a Blues Junior in Music Maker is €619 (recently adjusted)
Remember you can get a discount here!
THE VAT RATE IN THE UK IS 17.5%
    IN IRELAND 21%

So here’s something else to consider:
The UK price is £399.99 including 17.5% VAT
If you adjust the vat rate to 21% it comes out at £411.89, convert that to euro it’s €633.67, so we are cheaper and that’s before your boat ticket, meal and beer.

    Yours truly,
    Mark

OK, all vaild points and me aint the shapest tack re economics.

You are all probably bang on the button but it was the sheer
black and white difference between 500 ish Euro and 675 (musuc maker) and 700 (musician Inc) that got me.

These guys in UK have to make thier profit etc and I assume they are at 350 ish.

Its on top of every other hike in the land so a bit of the hair that broke the camels back for me.

So Landis, you sound in the know,
The FULL RRP of a Blues Junior in Music Maker is €619 (recently adjusted)

Are you saying in the last few days the price has come down from
    €675?

If so then that was more like the level I was willing to pay to
support local retailers which is what Id like to do.

Has the price gone down ,even by a slight margin?

I may just eat my words;)

Thanks for your replies people, I 'm learnin, but y'all must feel that pinch sometimes,eh?

    hi again juno

Yes the price in now €619 and that's not including a discount!!!!

It has changed in the last week or so.

Music Maker has to make it's profit also and maybe this doesn't matter but there is a big difference in the VAT rates (UK 17.5, IRE 21%)

So you go into Music Maker ask for Fran tell him the price I gave you (€619) and see if he can do better (he can) get your amp enjoy it and remember you have a full 12 month guarantee in Dublin not the UK.

I understand your immediate reaction, just keep in mind the exchange rate and taxes!!

    Happy playing

    Mark,

Many thanks for takeing the effort to reply. Its nice to know that someone is actually listening to peoples gripes and explaining your own position.
Its clear to me now its not just blatent profiteering as that was the main source of my initial anger.

Well you restored my faith in customer service anyhow
    :D

    So about that amp.....;)

    cheers mate
