ok, i need to know if one of these exists. basically what i'm looking for is something i can put my cable into, and use to change channels which will output the channel as av. kinda like a video machine can, but without all the video stuff! if anyone knows what i'm talking about i'd appreciate help!!!

A TV card for your pc is the closest you are likely to get, no use outside the pc though. Why don't you just use a vcr? If you want something cheap go to a repair shop and ask for a discarded vcr with a working tuner, the video parts usually break long before the tuners do.

because it's a really cool really old but really really high definition observation monitor. i usually use it for my dreamcast and dvd player but i wouldnd mind hooking up some sans tariff cable

ok ntl cable comes into my room as co axial, i want to display it on monitor with no facilty for decoding the cable or displaying it, it's av only. i've done it before with a video machine. so basically i need a tuner that i can change the channel on and output as av!

So basically as i understand you you just want to watch your digital tv on this monitor. What inputs has this monitor? SCART? Coax? Phono? DIN?

If its SCART all you need is a SCART splitter. Post details of your setup at the moment or even a photo.
