Standard multicast mac-address

Does any know if there is a standard format for a multicast mac-address. I was under the impression that if the least significant was set to 1, then that was enough:-
e.g. xxxxxxx1-xxxxxxxx-xx........... or 0160-01ee-0621 or something like that.

But now while troubleshooting, a vendor is saying it has to begin with:-
    0100-5exx-xxxx

Anyone have any experience with this?

    Cheers,
    Pookster.

"An Ethernet multicast address consists of the multicast bit, the 23-bit vendor component, and the 24-bit group identifier assigned by the vendor.""the multicast bit is the low-order bit of the first byte".

    For details, see http://www.iana.org/assignments/ethernet-numbers

    Hope this helps,
    Ian.
