See Sky are offering Premiership Plus season tickets for €56
if you order between 1-31st August. Seems good value.

Is that cheaper than the original offer in May?

Think I will probably go for it again this season now.

Yes, it was €64. I feel fleeced. :(

Whilst it is a good price, I think what Sky are doing is trying to suck as many people in like me(I previously said to my missus/buddies that there was no way I was bothering with PP+ this year!! )before they put up the SKy Sports price in Sept.Obviously once you're with PP+ you can't downgrade Skysports package without losing it even it you get angry with the price increase!!

    Clever people are Sky...

You should ring up and complain. i be odering that as soon as i get home. Also why is it that you have to pay be credit card.

There is nothing better than sitting down at 2pm and not getting up till 6pm while watching football on a sunday espically if the pool are playing.

2nd year in a row they did me on the same deal - booked early and they reduced the price.

I rang back in June and the price was Eur64. They told me the price would go up to Eur80 after June and I told them I'd wait till later and see if the price came down and she was adament that it wouldn't. Glad I didn't listen to her now. Also, according the the August edition of the Sky Magazine we should be able to order Prem Plus through the Digibox from the 1st of August so would we still need a credit card?

I thought you only had to be subscribed to Skysports at the time of ordering, I don't think you need to stay subscribed all through the season. If you are not a skysports subscriber at the time of ordering, you don't get the discounted rate - in fact I think a Premiership + subscription alone is something like €160.

    AFAIK, anyway.

if you read the small print on the advertising sheet with the Sky Mag this month it clearly states that you must maintain your sky sports sub to continue to view the PP+ service. Obviously thats why they give the special offer.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 3,102 ✭✭✭Genghis

That's obviously a new stipulation. It makes Premiership + very expensive, then. Last year I had thought about getting Premiership+ only as an alternative to SkySports (football is all I watch on it), and the way I was advised to do it was to get P+ and then downgrade.

If this is the case, then why not incorporate Premeirship + into a monthly sub - for example €7 extra per month August to May, instead of insisting people pay for something up front, and then hold them to ransom if they change package later in the year.

I suppose if they increase the monthly sub by €7 they are penalising all subscribers then. i.e. golf, cricket, rugby league, union etc etc....Not everyone is subscribing to sky for the soccer.

Sorry, I meant that you could subscribe to Sky Sports for say €49 a month, with the option of paying €56 a month and include the premiership + events.

Has anyone tried to order through the remote yet?

I haven't got a credit card and my Digibox isn't currently connected to a phone line.

according to the magazine, Irish subscribers should be able to order through the remote from the 1st of August.

I see in the ad to that they are charging and extra €1 for indivdual games that are ordered over the phone rather than through the remote.

i might order through the remote tomorrow for a laugh. i'll let you know how i get on.

Yea, this is how it worked last season. I had Sky Sports when I got season ticket, then cancelled Sky Sports later in the year but Prem+ still worked OK.

Has anyone been able to do this through the Red button today?

If not do we ring 1 800 535 767? Is that all automated or can you get to speak to someone about Prem Plus tickets?

Arsenal only feature once up to the beginning of Novemeber. i think i'll pass and watch it in the pub

OT: has anyone else noticed how all Saturday games are now going to be on Sky Sports 2. so a sub to the 2 main sports channels are needed to see all the games

Not really that good value since the UK sub has now reduced to £40 from 1st August. They are just using a more realistic exchange rate than they did in June when £40 was translated to €64. Anyone who paid the wrong rate should question it again.

I used the phone since I could not find the subscribe option when I pressed the red button. Up to 31st July they were prepared to accept €81 for Premiership Plus without any mention of the reduction taking place the next day!

I suppose the key point here is that for once we have actually got parity with the UK for something. A bit of respect from Sky seems is a rare commodity!!

It seems that despite the latest Sky magazine saying that we can order Premiership Plus via the remote, we can't. More misleading magazine info.

    Can you order individual games?
If so how much does it cost?

  • Moderators, Business & Finance Moderators Posts: 3,816 Mod ✭✭✭✭LFCFan

it's something like €7.50 if you're a Sky Sports Subscriber (€8.50 if you order by phone) and €14 a game if you're not a Sky Sports Subscriber. Not 100% sure on those prices though.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 843 ✭✭✭DaithiSurfer

    ouch,
I think i'll got to the pub.
Thinking of getting rid of sky sports anyway.
I only kept it the last year because it was cheaper ( i got sky world for the price that it was last year €8 less i think).
Now that my first year is up i got to the normal price.
I love watching the games but
I'm never in to watch them so i might as well watch the highlights on rte and go to the pub for the matches i want to see live.
Prem+ is the straw that broke the camels back.

False advertising maybe. Worth a go!
