    If you are a MEP can you sit on local council, the Dail and in Europe? I'm trying to establish where they can and cannot sit.

    An Alderman in Ireland is a city councillor, who received the highest number of votes in their ward / constituency. It is purely symbolic, although I imagine they are allowed "go first" at any protocol events.
