Ireland's number three mobile operator Meteor is offering free text messages for life to pre-pay customers. The free SMS service applies only to messages sent on the Meteor network and customers must also top-up with at least EUR20 in call credits per month. The offer is being introduced to mark the launch of Full Mobile Number Portability (FNMP), Meteor said. Other moves by the company to boost its market share include free flights competitions and lowered business tariffs.
"Errah, sure let Hutchison/Eircom sort it out." :)

Nothing new ... the offer has been there for almost a year now. As the article said it is only to meteor numbers.

It is obvious that meteor will sell up .. WWI have sold their Icelandic and some other european network that they own in recent months. Added to the fact that their former CEO said they will sell up.

3/Hutchison want no 2G legacy and won't want network issues associated with meteor ... IMO they won't buy meteor. The smart money is on an Eircon take over in May.
