    Hi,
On O2's website there's the form to port your number to O2 but it seems that you have to go into an O2 Dealer to change it over. Anyone know whether that's right or not??? If it is it's pretty crap cause in the UK all you have to do is ring your existing operator, they'll give ya your porting code and you give the code to the operator you wish to join.

Yes, you are required to call into an agent of the network you want to port onto. So if you wanted to Port from Vodafone to O2, you would call into any O2 agent. The reason... You will require a new sim card!

It seems the only operator you can switch to without visiting a agent is meteor. See here https://www.mymeteor.ie/fmnp/fmnp.cfm Meteor only require you to buy a meteor sim card pack and you just give them a ring and they'll switch it over in 2 hours. I think it'd be better if O2 and Vodafone done it this way too.

I doubt that, I just sat though a 7 hour briefing on the whole process :(

Seemingly, all operators have agreed to follow the same process.

    The meteor Process:

    1. Call Customer Care on free phone 1905.

    2. Call to any Meteor Store and they will move your number for you in store.

    3. Complete a Customer Autorisation Form (which you will find in your phone / sim pack) and return it by post to our Customer Care team.

    4. Or fill in your name below along with the 086 or 087 number you wish to move. One of our Customer Care team will call you back within 2 hours from Monday to Friday 9am-6pm. Outside these hours we will call you back .

You still have to complete the form and stuff. If you dont call in to an agents you will have to do it through post. By calling into an agents, the most it will take is 2 hours to complete (once the form is filled in). 2 hours is the max like, one was done today in 1min and 35 seconds.
