Would something like http://www.google.ie/grphp?tab=wg&q=&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en&meta= suffice while they set one up or does it not have features that you'd get through using Netsource?

    One word. news.cis.dfn.de.
Does that count as a word?

You could try Teranews.com its free, for 50mb/day, after a $3.95 setup fee.

Yes it is ok..but not really as user friendly as a proper newsreader, guess i'll have to wait for netsource to provide one or just sign up for one of the w/monkey news services.

news.cis.dfn.de are very messy. Takes an age to get approved and you HAVE to use avalid email address in posts.

Teranews is what I settled on. Posting is a bit slow but it's comprehensive.

Gotta say I disagree. Approval took a couple of days and you can use any email address you want. They suggest me@privacy.net but I've used made up stuff without ever having been penalised in any way. I find it a great advantage with my laptop to be able to check newsgroups whatever the dial up or broadband connection I happen to be using.
