Just looking at the skynews website and it shows that the US have released photos of saddams sons , to prove their death.

I remember a time when that type of stuff would have turned my stomach , it seems to be more tolerated and accepted to show that type of stuff nowadays. Whats you opinion on the photo release ?

that odd rumsfeldt said this morning that the photos would definitley not be released today...but what the hell does he know, I suppose, except how to be particularly smarmy to jounalists:D.

I dont get what the big deal is with showing dead bodies. But that's purely my opinion. I dont find them disturbing personally.

I'm not that disturbed by it because I've been numbed to violence from years of TV news, documentaries and personal experience of it.

I like to watch Discovery on a chilled out Sunday if the weathers bad. All the old footage of WW2 and every major conflict since have equally gruesome images.

I also can’t berate the Americans for showing the images, Iraq’s unrest is in part because the people fear OR hope for the return of Saddam. Showing these photos proves the Americans aren’t going to allow that.

My guess is special ops killed them if they captured them alive. Alive the international community might want a war crimes trial, dead the only thing the Americans have to worry about is where to bury them.

The Iraqi guerillas didn't believe that the americans had got them, thought it was propoganda...

This shows the resistance forces in Iraq that their leaders are being knocked off and will hurt morale.

What the Americans are hoping for is for the Iraqi resistance to see their cause (Saddam's return to power) as futile (excuse pun) and give up...

It's a huge morale boost for American troops aswell who feel like they're fighting ghosts.

looks like they're more determined than before.

Seems probable that Saddam is still alive, though. If Uday and Qusay were moving about, talking to people all over the country, it stands to reason that Saddam is still holed up somewhere.

Empty words, I would say they're ****ting it.
The reason the reward on Osamas head wasn't taken up is because he surrounded himself with Religion Nutcases.

Saddams people are used to money, they'll see now that if saddams sons can be sold out that saddam will be eventually, they're probably queueing up to grab a share in that reward money.

I would say Saddam will be dead by this time next week.

    Well that proves a lot.

Like I posted elsewhere, they both look like Gerry Adams after a rough night to me.

they wouldn't say it if it wasn't true,
all the iraqis would have to do would be release a tape of the brothers holding a newspaper after said date and it would make the americans look like idiots.

Also the Feyadeen has said they will avenge the deaths, so looks like they've bought it.

This shows the resistance forces in Iraq that their leaders are being knocked off and will hurt morale.
Doesn't seem like its hurting their morale at all considering they killed two more american soldiers at 8am our time this morning.

I think the killings of american soldiers will hurt american morale more, most of the troops on the ground expressed opinions on BBC world last week that they just wanted to get out.
A spokesman for the US-led civil authority in Iraq said journalists will be allowed to film the bodies for themselves on Friday to dispel any doubts the photographs were authentic.
what were the DNA test results, anybody hear?
I'll wait till friday, and see what the journalists reports are and what speculation comes out from various news sources.

    You have a point,
In the short term I think It will possibly boost morale with most resistance thinking "They're trying to lower our morale, lets fight on"...

But in longer terms no army can fight without clear leadership and Saddams sons were the instigators of these guerilla hits.

As time goes on the morale will drop but they need to get saddam in order to finish it.

The Iraqi people won't stand up and be counted because they're afraid of Saddams return, the sooner that fear is addressed by capturing or killing him, the sooner Iraq can start rebuilding its country.

Its just that a few months ago when the Iraqi media decided to film the dead and captured American and British soldiers it was apparently a disgrace to do it for such blantantly evil propoganda purposes. It could be said that the showing of dead and captured POWs was in order to prove to the world that they had really been captured.

And you can bet your life that Fox News, along with a few other brown nosed stations who refused to screen any footage of POWs due to their horrendous arse kissing attitude to Bush and gimp, will be showing the pictures.

And can somebody remind me why the pics of the dead Brits/Americans were never shown? Seeing as the Mirror recently had a front page photo of Marc Vivien Foe lying dead with his eyes open on the front page it certainly wasnt a question of bad taste was it? While I agree that the pics should be shown because it is news and we have the right to see it we had an equal right to see footage of the captured americans during the war,but IIRC only one or two channels(I think it was probably TV3 and RTE)showed more than 10 second clips of the footage and even at that they didnt show much. The UK and US media showed fleeting glimpses with no sound, which is a disgrace seeing as they have all showed the photos of the dead brothers today.

But as Darth Homer said, maybe it is because we see so many dead bodies and all on films/tv these days but like you I was eating my dinner infront of the tv when the pics first appeared and it didnt make me particularly unwell. Our generation has just been desenitised(sp) i think.
