Okay, so I've been meaning to get a tat for a while now. I want something that actually means something to me. One thing that I am currently considering getting done is getting my family crest onto my arm, as family means a lot.

Can anyone recommend somewhere that would do a good job of it? AFAIK, their not that common. At least, you dont see much people with them (actually, i've never sen any but I'm assuming some people out there would have had them done.

    Anyone have any suggestions?

    Cheers

    James

Some family crests are harder to do than others, plus you could decide you want some fancy designs added (i.e. animals propping it up, a knights helmet on top, loads of swirly frilly stuff all around) or you could just go for a simple design.

It really depends on how you want it done. Find a good picture of your crest that you would be happy with having on your arm for the rest of your life.

Theres 2 problems with inking family crests.
One is the intricate designs which may mean you have to get it done larger than you had planned to make up for the designs. The other prob is the colours---Im not really a fan of greens, yellows etc as they tend to fade to a blue after a few years(Anyone remember those birds you always see on oldish peoples hands)!!!Believe it or not those birds probably looked well at the time they were done.

If you want post a pic of your crest and Ill get it looked at for you.
    Richie.

although its not the greatest version of it. I'll try and find a more decent version in the mean-time.

    Thanks

That's a pretty complex design with the lion's mane and all the swirly stuff. It'll have to be big enough so that those lines don't all bleed into each other.

I'm luck in that mine is just an arm holding a cross.

Just looking at the pic and to be honest you would'nt have to to do a whole lot to it, maybe simplefy it a tiny bit but other than that from what i can see it's totally do able, i have my family crest on my arm and it is detailed enough, considering i got scrawny arms ;)

will try post up a pic of it when i get home, but from my own experiences i find it the best sort of tat to get done first as parents won't say a whole lot about it, mine actually like the job i got done on it.

oh just to let you know too, i got mine done in JMD's Body art in Waterford, great place to get work done, myself and my brother would'nt go anywhere else :)
