    Hi guys,

I have just moved to north county Dublin and the local tv guy came around and said for a one of charge of € 220 euro he will connect up an aerial and this would allow me to receive the standard uk channels eg BBC1,2 UTV, CH etc..
I checked around and he has installed this aerial all over the place. My questions are:

    1) is it legal
    2) any ideas how he is doing this
    3) Could I set this up myself if so what would I need to purchase and how would I set it up

I had sky digital previously but it is a bit of a rip off if it had utv, c4 and c5 then it would be worth considering... but hey..

    Depends on what hes doing.

Many parts of North county Dublin can recieve the UK channels off air using a high gain UHF aerial, booster and a tall pole

    Theis is all perfectly legal

On the other hand he could be offering to illegally hook you up to the cable network

Perfectly legal. It how television has been down here for over 50 years!

I'm sure he is pointing aerials to the Kilkeel relay that is popular around North County Dublin, as its to the east of the Mournes whereas Divis is more or less blocked. If the aerials around you are vertically polarised, then that's the case.

Go for it, it seems reasonably priced.
