Hey fellas, anyone can help me out here?

Is it possible, on O2 in Ireland, to send emails from a T610 with picture attachments to email addresses such as hotmail? via GPRS, perhaps. Because I want to send pictures to german email addresses and some people in college who don't have media phones. And also I can be charged for the size of emails and pictures, not just flat-rate 50c. Of course, its not too useful if I can only email those with a o2.ie email address..

I am hoping that media phones will allow me to have this flexibility

    Any ideas?

    Thank you

    David

it is - are you a pre-pay (Speakeasy) or post-pay (Monthly Bill) customer with GPRS

for Pre-Pay - you need to have access to their Full Internet GPRS access point pp.internet

for Post-Pay - you need to have access to their Full Internet GPRS access point internet or open.internet

if they aren't enabled for you account already - you would need to call 1740 for them to enable them

alternatively you could use a regular GSM dial-up account

in Internet Services would then set up the GPRS/GSM conection settings (ask back here if you want a hand)

good stuff! Thanks for the reply.

MMS seems expensive and inflexible. email is the way to go for picture messaging, in my opinion.

I'm on billpay, I think my GPRS works out at about 0.8c per kb. Checking my hotmail via wap and reading one or two emails only costs 10c or so, checking my bank balance on AIB 24hour online only about 4c. Ringing the 1890 number used to cost at least 15c.

as you are on a Monthly Bill, depending on how much mail (and attachments) you are going to send/recieve take a look at their GPRS packages and see which is appropriate to your situation

after checking the Full Internet (not WAP) access point is set up for you, you need to configure a GPRS Data Account using it

you then configure your POP email account using that GPRS Data Account to access you mail server

the Manual has all the steps in it, or ask back if you get stuck

On my 7650 I use the Email in the Messages folder. When I try recieve email, i get General: System Error, Try Again.

I even copied the O2 GPRS Access point and renamed it to Email, but it still doesnt work.

    Any ideas ?

hi - you need to set up an access point connection with those pp.internet settings (from the other post ) in the phone's
Tools - Settings - Connections - Access Points

then you select that access point when you are configuring you're pop/imap email account in the messaging application
