Im looking at this router that Marx currently has:

    Compex ADSL Router/4xSwitch

    Compex Netpassage 15C Broadband Router
supports Cable/ADSL modem or Direct Ethernet connection
suitable for eircom i-stream (modem required)
enabling Internet sharing for up to 253 users
    1x RJ45 WAN, 4x RJ45 10/100 Lan
with DHCP server, NAT-Firewall, IP packet filtering

    48Euro

CAN i use this with the Zyxel Prestige 630 USB modem to have only 2 machines sharing the DSL connection?

Ive tried sharing the modem over a simple crossover cable and ICS....but its terrible - half the time it wont work at all and im looking for a solution. So would this work?

    TIA :)

to be honest i don't think i've ever seen a router that worked with a usb modem. thats not saying that they arn't out there, just that this one doesnt.

    http://www.dslsource.co.uk/products.asp?idProdType=2

check this site out for a combined modem/rourer/switch. look for one with both pppoa and pppoe support

I think marx has one of them router/modem combos.......

try looking through the Modems page a bit harder...

I know they used to have one anyway, not sure if they're still selling it though.

It's the third item from the bottom on the Modems page - €130.00 incl VAT.

I notice they are now describing it as a "Q-Tec 584AA" whereas it used to be E-Tech. It still looks the same as this , and they both look the same as the Conexant one from Dabs.com. Dabs sell it for UK£50, by the way.
