For me it was CM 97 (CM2).

Started playing as Liverpool, and got sacked. So I started a new game and picked Barcelona. Did fairly well with them, played a few different games with them usually about 7 or 8 seasons each. Got me totally hooked.
Led Portugal to a few World Cups and European Cups, and Zaragoza from mid 2nd division to top of La Liga.

Since then, I've always managed Barcelona.

I can't remember which one it was but Ronaldo was at PSV ( i think) and only the good players new about him. He was like Ronaldinho was at the start of CM3, how ironic. ;)

93/94 was the first game I bought and I played it a huge amount...

But it was 97/98 that sucked away my life. I played it 15 odd hours a day..

I was president of a students union, and I just used to sit in the office, beer and smoke/ash/butts everywhere playing every hour god sent :)

Then I went home and played..

Ahhhhh those were the days :)

I'm thinking it was the 93/94 or maybe the 94/95 , played a game as Celtic for ages , won everthing across the board.

Signed the then 17 year old Thierry Henry from Monaco he became a superstar other players that spring to mind were Miguel Mercado ( He was Class) and Ever Moas (A Uraguayan sweeper). The game was alot less complicated than the current crop but it was addictive .

I even persuaded my g/friend to ask how are you gettin on with it on ocassion now ( Maybe someday she'll play) previosly she hated the sight of my PC because of Champ Man . One or two other friends can't understand the attraction as well as my oldest brother .

Can't explain it but I'd be lost without it !!

    95/96

Mostly, i was crap. Couldn't build a new stadium with different stands and shops like in Ultimate Soccer Manager :(

It was the first CM2. Can't remember the seasons, 94/95 or 95/96. Not being able to build the stadium was a big drawback. It made it close to impossible to bring a lower league team with a small stadium up through the divisions. I remember you could get Maradona at the start of the game and that Del Piero could not be tempted to leave Juve.
    Ahh, the memories.
    What a game.

them were the days. 12+ hour sessions on my p200, trying to finish a league. [moreso cos my pc was slow than anything else! :p]

    CM97/98. (v 2.93)

I remember having a really good Ajax league. I used always sign Ever Moas at the start.

CM 97/98 was the one that got me started. I was on sick leave from work for a few months and I had to fill the hours somehow, although I wasn't expecting it to turn into an addiction. I Played as Fiorentina for a long time, won the Italian cup, then the Cup Winners Cup and finally Serie A, at which point AC Milan offered me a job. Won just about everything with them including the Champion's League and World Club Championship before being offered the Italian national job. Only had that for a season when my 30 years ran out. Ah, those were the days...

I've been playing a demo of 03/04 for a week or two and it's been sufficiently addictive to make me order the full game. No more social life for me after next week.
