As the subject says what's your level of training and experience?

Myself I have completed the open water and advanced Padi cert. I have been diving for about 5 years (not so much lately) mainly in Ireland but some dives in Florida.

CMAS ** for me, none of that Padi stuff...
Been diving coldwater in Denmark for a few years and also a few dives in Sweden and a single warm water in Turkey.

Been away from the the wet element for over 3 years now, so dont think my equipment is totally good anymore...

I don't even remember what it was apart from it being a 1* P.A.D.I when i was 16 with Dalkey Scuba-divers, 8 weeks pool and theory once a week and 4 dives at hook head - Wexford and 1 dive at Dalkey island - Paul Ayres was our dive master...

Just back from 3 weeks diving in Brittany, France - 15 odd dives completed with 1* F.F.E.S.S.M in order to get my spearfishing licence as an added bonus.

I've Been diving for about 2 years up to Advanced open water going for my rescue pretty soon

however i havent been in the water in about 6 months (moved to cork from dublin so i lost all my dive buddies) so i'll need to do a scuba review before i get back into the swing of things.

    *Almost* Divemaster.

Did Open, Advanced and Rescue within about 4 months of each other, and then did a Divemaster internship (min. 6 weeks) for 9 weeks and dropped out during my last 2 Divemaster exams (physics and physiology) and have regreeted not making more effort to finish it.

I've led quite a few dives (in familiar territory) and even did my skippers qualification so I could pilot the dive boat.

Qualified about 3 years now, but not got wet for about 12-18 months, although off to Thailand on Friday and will be on a few dives while I'm there.

I've dived off Krabi off Thailand's west coast in off season so the vis was down to 1m in places. Still loads of life out there, I've also dived of Koh Tao in the Thai Gulf which was good but there could be up to 200 divers on a dive site so not much life. There are speed boat dives which are more expensive but get to the dive sites before anybody else. I can recommend Buddha View on Koh Tao.

If you've enough time in Thailand try get to the Perinthian (spl?) Islands off north Malaysia, apparently the diving there is top class. Further down the coast is Tioman Island where the diving is excellent although the vis wasn't great when I was there. There's a lot less divers in the water too.

Further still is the Gili Islands between Bali and Lombok in Indonesia. Its a bit of a trip to get there but the diving is the best I've ever done. To get there fly to Kuta in Bali and get the big yellow ship called the Bounty to the Gili Isles. This cost about €35 euros each way but the alternative is to get ripped off and possible beaten up on Lombok, believe me the experience isn't worth it. Its getting close to the manta ray season in Gili too and there's always loads of sharks. If you want to see green turtles just roll up your trouser legs and go paddling :D
I dived with Manta Dive there and my sister did her dive master with them. If you're doing a course try and get Ant as your instructor. He's by far the best, v. proffesional.

God I want to go travelling again.

don't know if I'll have time for all that, but this is only a little trip, we'll definately be going back for longer after we've got to Oz next year (and that's a whole other story).
