    Hey all,

Just a question. Just lately I have been getting no sleep at all. I don't know why but hey. I have been doing the same life nothing different from usual.

Just wanted to know what could cause such a problem.

    RunFree

    PS. I'm very tired

Stress: Nope, nothing to stress me.

Physical Inactivity: Played 2 games of indoor soccer and go to the gym 3-4 times a week

Caffeine: Drink 2 cups of Tea a day and no coffee or coke. Mostley water.

Going to bed too late: Try and be in bed at 11:00-12:00 and make sure that if I do sleep that I get atleast 8-10 hours sleep before I get up.

Could be something sub consciously irritating you, or maybe you had a bad dream (you may not remember having one) and your sub conscious is telling you to stay up.

yeah Runfree havent slept much myself in a good while, i feel tired but not tired enough to sleep. but i am actually kind of enjoying it realy, lots of late night/early moring tv to watch.

your sleep could possibly be due to hormone changes. i dont know your age but its a possibility i suppose.

    Well I am 21.
I must say not being able to sleep has given me plenty of time to do other things alright though.

    actually started reading books aswell.

I've found it quite warm of late it stops me getting to sleep sometimes. Try sleeping with the window open all that fresh air makes for a better nights sleep I find.

Might try the herbal thingy. Drinking choclate hasn't worked and neither has reading.

Once again thanks for all your comments.
    Much Appreciated.

Try having a long soak in a bath in the evening, throw a facecloth over your face and forget about the world.

    Works for me...

Well I slept last night anyway. WOOHOO.

Thaed, I do like your idea. Might try that one if I can't sleep.

Viking Like your advise aswell but it tends just to daze away, I don't actually sleep that way.

Is it a case of racing thoughts keeping you awake or what? I used to have major problems with those, have cut out caffeine completely and stuck to a regular sleep schedule and that has helped an awful lot. Also you need to wind down your brain activity about an hour before going to bed. Don't use a computer before going to bed, watch some relaxing mind-numbing tv instead or something. It helps to knock one off before you go to bed as well.

I've been having a lot of trouble sleeping lately too and for no apparant reason....on the verge of desperation I've reverted to Feng Shui and have grabbed a compass and last night moved my bed around so my head is to the North when I sleep which is supposed to be good for insomnia... that and relaxing music and a little meditation before bed will hopefully do the trick!

Is it possible there are very low (e.g. air conditioning unit) / very high (anti-rodent devices) frequency noices keeping you awake?

Wow, that's weird I used always find I used sleep better with head facing North for some reason. Didn't know it was actually documented. (i find facing east is a fair compromise as well from sleeping facing north).

I have never had any trouble sleeping. Not to sure what I would do if I did have trouble either?

Not being the harbinger of doom or anything but an Australian friend found she couldn't sleep, literally couldn't sleep at all. She became quite vexed by the whole thing because days would go by and she wouldn't sleep at all. In the course of an entire week she might doze off on the couch or something for about five or six hours.

(This is where I become the harbinger of doom and death)

Turned out she had a brain tumour.

    So.... anyhooooo....
Whatever it is RunFree, it's unlikely to be as bad as that!

I used to have Real trouble sleeping. So much so i started to suffer from insomina. like most of you i didnt do anything out of the ordinary but it went on for 2 months and i though i was gonna go mad, until my friend suggested trying some of that organic relaxing stuff

i could suggest try buying one of those oil burners for your room and an hr before you go to bed use it makes the place very relaxing. as for the organic relaxing stuff some people dont respond to it very well so go and conslut your GP if your having real problems sleeping ask about the organic stuff talk to someone that knows about that stuff.

i hope you get back to normal sleeping pattern and if you dont you can always take up 2 or 3 jobs and by the time your 35 you'll be rich beyond your wildest dreams. (or totally insane)

seriously tho g'luck i hope it works out for you

I've been having problems for about the last 2 months. What I usually do is put on some relaxing music. Something like sigur ros, pink floyd- Wish you were here, rosie and try to tell my body to sleep. To do this you get comfortable and start at your feet, relaxing your muscles and thinking of them being asleep, then move up your body.

This helps a bit, which means I'm getting to sleep in an hour instead of about 4 hours but hey it's better than nothing
