OK so I'm buying a new phone, I want one that has the following or as many as possible:

    Bluetooth,
    Infared,
Large memeory for sms messages and phone book,
    fm radio,
no camera (if I want a camera I'l buy one, had a 7650 didn't like it)
    good battery.

I was thinking 6610 but don't think it has BT.

    btw I currently have a 6310i

Exactly what i got :P - The Sony Ericson T68i, the new series should also offer all these features.

    Bluetooth - Works well
    Infared - Works well also
Large memeory for sms messages and phone book - Around ~ 60 messages and 20 on sim
fm radio - A clip on can be bought.
no camera - Even if you did u can buy a clip for this also
good battery - Lasts me 5 days at least if not 7 and its gone through a hell of a lot in its time.

But I don't think you can buy this phone with any service provider but the new one version is coming out they might start selling with with ready 2 go or something i dunno

funny enough the same guy who designed the (Ericsson) T68 designed the T610 - Erik Ahlgren - there is a good story/interview on the design of the T610 here: Erik Ahlgren talks design

you're right about sony bringing more to the relationship though, especially with the likes of the Bluetooth MP3 player...

hopefully Sony will begin to bring more of their technology like their displays into the mix, one of the issues some people have with the T610 is the display, even with 65k colours it is based on an STN (SuperTwisted Nematic LCD) has a slower refresh and a duller output than TFT (Thin Film Transistor LCD) - although with STN the power drain is less and they are cheaper... (the much 'rumoured' clamshell Z600 is said to have a TFT display)

although, it would be great if they could start incorporating their OLED (Organic Light Emitting Diode) technology into the handsets, OLED by emitting their own light require less power, space and weight than an LCD displays. Sony are due to ramp up their OLED production in Spring '04.
