question about using a Hoe

Just a quick few questions. When using a hoe is it best to go hard or gently?. Is a thrusting motion better than a twisting or girating motion?. Also when going for the rough should I ease into it or go hard at and will this cause any stress to my back as I once had an injury?

be careful when using a hoe, you've really no idea where it's been, unless you own it. They (obviously) get quite dirty doing what they do and could carry all sorts of infections and should you cut yourself, you may end up with a nasty infection.
