Hey all, hope i have this in the right place.
My problem is i'm trying to txt a friend of mine in canada and my phone/company won't let me... I'm using a nokia 3210 (still :P) and my company is O2, i know i'm using the proper country code/area code because i can phone the canadian number no prob, just can't txt it! Has anyone had the problem before?
My sim card is kinda old, it still says digifone on my screen hehe :). Could that affect it anyway? Or could it just be a mobile network compatability problem?
    Thanks,
    Rob

your friend's network more than likely doesn't have a roaming agreement with o2. otherwise it should work fine

In order to send a text message to a foreign countries network, your network will require an inter networking agreement with that network. It is importatant to note that this is different to a roaming agreement. It is possible that O2 do not have an agreement with the network. Alternatively, i would suggest actually calling O2 to see if this is the case, and if not, finx out where the problem is occurring.

ok... if you are a bill customer, customer care is free.. If you are a prepaid customer, I am guessing there is an 1850 number you call, should cost about 30 cents for the whole duration of the call.

kinda came in late on this one ...
most of my canadian friends have never texted anyone, probably cause there's only a few gsm mobile networks over there. your friend would have to be on one of them to receive texts on them. i definitely received texts whilst i was over there earlier this year with an o2 phone, i roamed onto microcell.
