Exactly what it says in the title.

I've installed it, and they seem to have fixed all the annoying bits with excel printing.

The default network printer error is gone too.

Still flakey on powerpoint, but as always, still the best downlolad on the Intar web thing.

Copied from MS Apps/OS. Nice to be able to do that.

Barely on topic, does anyone know the best way to go about improving the fonts in openoffice? I've switched on anti-aliasing in kde, still looks crap.

Have you installed the Microsoft fonts Gerry?

    EDIT: http://www.graemepyle.com/linuxfonts.html

I have another couple of links somewhere if that isn't good enuff.

They make a difference alright. Open Office is almost unusable with default font options selected.

Cheers, I'll give that a go later.

    I love that OpenSource goodness!

Ximian openoffice is the best for fonts, they even fixed the manky looking menu fonts (now have gtk look). Don't know how you'd go about getting it if you're not using Suse or RedHat. Maybe try going to ftp.ximian.com and downloading the rpms yourself (they're currently at version 1.0 though)

I'm using debian so I could probably do that. Got a bit burned the last time I installed ximian, on solaris it ran slower than Gnome 1.2 beta. Also need every bit of space for my dsl movies :)

Well, I'm slowly poisoning the windows peeps in work with this piece of open loveliness. The boss is already mightily impressed with open offices looks, abilities etc.

then he opened a formula stuffed excel file and open office joined his "crap" pile.

So, anyone know of a way to easily convert VB macros and formulae to an Open office usable format?

apart from that little letdown, OO really is amazingly good (and FREE!)

Thanks all for help, the fonts work a treat.
Lolth, with enough googling you may be able to find a convertor.

    Gnumeric, it's the canine's gonads.

Yes gnumeric is so good for excel functions and more, used it exclusively when I was doing a course in stats using excel.

As far as I know there is noscripting in Open Office. They are talking about developing one but it hasn't happened yet. Star Office has its own vba like script called star office basic. They are also saying the'll release a development kit for StarOffice soon that will be Java based.

The lack of a comprehensive scripting enviroment is one that holding myself back from swtiching to Open Office. I do a lot of work in VBA so I can't switch until I have theres alternative in Open Office or Star Office for that matter. I don't think Star Basic is quite there just yet.
