OX X Install Problem and 9.2.2 Update Problem

Hi - I am wondering if any of ye could help me with this problem

    FIRSTLY:

I am updating from OS 9.2.1 to 9.2.2 and when I put in the update CD of 9.2.2 and I go to install I get the error message

'This software cannot be installed over this localized copy of the Mac OS'

    SECONDLY:

I am trying to upgrade to OS X - I double click on the 'Install OS' installation and I am asked to reboot

Once I reboot, this gray screen comes up and I am asked to reboot once again. This happens over and over again – I checked it on the Apple Support site and this came up but it does not give me any help whatsoever. What they talk about is a ‘Kernel Panic’ but there is no solution.

I tried removing all devices and trying again and it still failed

    Has anyone any idea?

Not sure with regard your first problem in OS9.

Not even sure of the second problem :) but have you tried to boot straight into the cd when starting up rather than double clicking on the installer app??

Indeed i have! - I think i have tried everything at this stage!

But one point of note - When i do a disk doctor check on the OS X CD, i get an error - I wonder does that matter?

Hi The OS 9 error is caused because you are trying to upgrade an International English version of 9.2.1 with a US English Version of 9.2.2 which cannot be done (or vice versa)

as to the OSX issue this could be a media fault have you a second copy you can try or have you tried running the installer on another Mac?
