Question about IMDB 250?

I was just over on IMDB checking up on 'Pirates of the Caribbean' and was very impressed that it has already managed to get a rating of 8.2 from 2,500+ people so far. As such by my reckoning it has already earned itself place on the IMDB top 250 at around position 52 but there is no mention of it there despite having a high enough rating and quota of votes?

So my question is does anyone know what it has not yet achieved in order to be in there?

As far as I can tell, IMDB's Top 250 is recalculated each day, not by-the-minute. Also - although 2500+ people have voted, only 1700 of these are registered IMDB users. It takes the votes of 1250 registered IMDB to put it into consideration for the top 250. And since today is only it's third day open, I'm guessing it only just went above the 1250 today.

Check it again tomorrow, or the next day, and it'll probably be on there.

[edit]To be extra harsh, it turns out that only the votes of *frequent* IMDB voters are counted to help a film reach the top 250.. which means it could take a little longer[/edit]

I'm really looking forward to Pirates of the Caribbean.

The "regular voters only" makes quite a difference - on the "Top 250" page it may well have a different rating out of 10 compared with the movie's own page because of it.

Fellowship of the Ring jumped to the top spot within a few days of being released. As some people who voted for that one never voted again it started to drop down a bit within a few weeks - it's now at number 6.

It's what I call the OK Computer factor (after the Radiohead album was voted the best album ever made in a Q readers poll about 3 weeks after being released). New movies take a jump up the lists , then they slide down again (unless people really think it's the greatest thing ever after having time to take a second breath)

    Just found this:
your vote of 10, for Honogurai mizu no soko kara (2002), has been registered and will appear on the site in the next daily update.

So it is actually a Daily Update.
    Wo0t|!

    Obeygiant is right.

Rather looking farward to the film myself, seems kind of like the Indiana Jones style action seen in The Mummy. Should be fun, tbh.
